Decatur County, Tennessee Deeds Book 9, pp. 193-94 1879
Know all men by these presents that we Emily Miller and Lemuel Miller,
W.W. Hale Martha Hale wife of W.W. Hale James Hale Permely Hale wife of
James Hale have this day bargained and Sold and do hereby convey and
transfer to Dutton Hill his heirs or assigns forever for and in
consideration of the Sum of Two Hundred and fifty Dollars to us paid a
tract of land in the State of Tennessee County of Decatur and civil
District No 12 Containing by Estimation fifty acres be the Same more or
less and Bounded as follows Beginning at a Stake on the Bank of the creek
on the North Boundary line of a tract of Land in the name of Susan
Lawrences heirs Running north with the meanders of the creek to a Sarvice
bush at the mouth of a ditch thence in a westerly Direction with Said
Ditch and Blazed line to the East boundary line of a peace of Land in the
name of Jonathan Lasiter thence South to west Boundary line of Said Entry
thence East 63 poles more or less to the Beginning To have and to hold
the Same to the Said Dutton Hill his heirs and assigns forever we do
covenant with the Said Dutton Hill that we have a good Right to convey it
and that the Same is unencumbered we do further covenant and bind our
Selves our heirs or Lawful Representatives to warrant and forever defend
the title to Said Land and every part thereof to the Said Dutton Hill his
heirs or assigns against the Lawful claims of all persons whomsoever this
the 24th day of January 1879

State of Tennessee Personally appeared before me John McMillan Clerk of
the County Court of Said County appeared W.G. Riggs
and James W. Hill Subscribing Witnesses to the foregoing Deed with whom I
am personally acquainted who being first Sworn Deposed and Said that they
are acquainted with Lemuel Miller W.W. Hale and James Hale the bargainers
and that they acknowledged the Same in their presence to be their act and
Deed upon the day it bears date Witness my hand at office this the 19"
day of March 1879

Said County you are hereby authorized and Empowered
to Take the examination of Emily Miller Martha Hale and Permelia Hale
Privately and apart from their husbands relative to their free Execution
of the within Deed and the Same So Taken to certify under your hand and
Seal
Witness - John McMillan Clerk of the County Court of Decatur County Tennessee at
office this 24" day of January 1879.

appeared before me and having by virtue of the authority in me vested been
examined privately and apart from their Said husbands and they having
acknowledged the Due Execution of the within deed by them freely and
voluntarily and understandingly without compulsion or constraint by their
Said husbands and for the purposes therein expressed the Same is therefore
certified. Witness my hand Seal this the 24" day of January 1879
