Marshall Ivy to Balam Rains

This indenture made and into this 30 of November 1858 between Marshall Ivy of the county of Decatur and the state of Tennessee of the one part, and Balam Rains of the county and the state from said of the other part, witnesseth that for and in consideration of six hundred dollars to me in hand paid by Balam Rains the receipt then of is hereby acknowledged. I do this day bargain sell and convey unto said Balam Rains his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract of parcel of land on the waters of Arms Creek Range 7 Section 9 Civil district No 6 Beginning a Black Oak runs hence west 68 poles to a black oak hence south 160 poles to a stake hence west 100 poles to a black oak hence north 26 poles to a black oak hence east 73 poles to a stake past oak and hickory hence north 50 poles to a ? hence east 152 poles to Isam Wood on the bank of the Arms Creek running with the creek to a beach near a large spring on the bank of the said Arms creek hence south 15 west 170 poles to a white oak and hickory ? hence west 4 poles to the beginning containing 191 acres and 32 poles to have and to hold the above bargain and promises from me and my heirs forever with all the ?? then unto belonging to the proper use of him the said Balam Rains and do warrant and defend forgoing bargain and promises from all persons pending whatsoever in testimony where of I here unto set my hand and seal this day and date above
