Enlisted at Decaturville on September 18, 1862, in Company G, 6th Regiment Tennessee
Calvary, Capt. W. C. Webb's Company. He was mustered out at Pulaski, Tennessee, on July 26, 1866. He was listed on the 1890 Civil War Veterans Census as Arther Tolley VT. B-Co. 6th. Tennessee Cavalry
Sept. 18, 1862 ---- July 26, 1864 Decaturville P.O. A Federal Civil War marker was placed at the foot of Arthur Tolley grave in Mt. Leabon Cemetery in Decatur County in 2001.
He was known as an expert in hewing logs that were used extensively in the building of homes, barns,
schools, and churches. One was the old Mt. Tabor school about two miles south of Parsons.
