ALLIE M.(KINDLE) CULP CAMPBELL - Services for Mrs. Allie Culp Campbell were Friday, November 8 at Hopewell Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery with Parsons Mortuary in charge. Mrs. Campbell, who was 91, died Wednesday, November 7, at Decatur County Hospital. She was the widow of Dossie Campbell. She leaves three daughters, Drucilla Markus of St. Louis, Mo., Jean Swift of South Haven, MS., and Charlotte Tuton of Memphis; a brother, Cecil Kindle of St. Louis; four sisters, Ava Collier, Monnie Bennett, both of St. Louis. Willie Ivey of Parsons and Dorothy Kay of Los Angeles, Calif., 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

JOHN WILLIAM CAMPBELL , 85, died Wednesday night of last week at the St. Joseph Hospital in Memphis. He was a native of Decatur County and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Campbell. He was married to the former Miss Harriet Williams and they lived in the Hopewell Community until her death. Since that time he had made his home with his children. Services for Mr. Campbell were held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the Hopewell Baptist Church. Rev. W. A. Moody officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Parsons Funeral Home. Survivors are two sons, Dossie Campbell of Parsons and Donnie Campbell of Memphis; two daughters, Mrs. W. A. Hathcock of Brighton and Mrs. C. A. MINA L. CHALK - Services for Mrs. Mina L. Chalk, wife of J.A. Chalk of Decaturville, were conducted Friday morning from Decaturville Methodist Church by the Rev. W.T. Wrenn and the Rev. O.H. Lafferty. Mrs. Chalk, 71, died at her home early Wednesday night. She had been in ill health for several years and succumbed after a day's serious illness. She was a member of the Methodist CHurch. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two brothers, N.L. Goff of Scotts Hill and Perry A. Goff of Bemis, three sisters, Mrs. Callie, Everett of Saltillo, Mrs. Artie Townsend of Bemis and Mrs. Pearl Shannon of Scotts Hill. Burial was in Decaturville Cemetery with Wylie & Gurley Funeral home in charge of arrangements.

FOY CLENNEY , 97, of Scotts Hill passed away Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Decatur County General Hospital. Mr. Clenney was the son of the late Jess Alexander and Ida Belle (McCormick) Clenney. He is survived by daughters Virginia Mae Wicker of Scotts Hill and Brenda Faye Renfroe of Scotts Hill; one son Wabert Lee Clenney; one sister Estelle Duck of Scotts Hill; brother Lody Clenney of Scotts Hill; former wife Mary Helen Kennedy of Scotts Hill. He is also survived by four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by fifteen natural and half brothers and sisters. Services for Mr. Clenney were held Saturday, January 7, 2006 in the Reed’s Chapel in Scotts Hill with Damon Brawley and Mark Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Scotts Hill Cemetery. KEVIN LEROY COURTRIGHT - Funeral services for Mr. Kevin Leroy Courtright, age 46, of Parsons, were held Friday, December 23, 2005 at the Oakdale Funeral Home Chapel of Parsons with Bro. Robert Gant and Bro. Phil Flowers officiating. Interment followed in the Iron Hill Cemetery. Mr. Courtright died Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at the Decatur County General Hospital. He was a veteran of the US Navy, a loving father of three children and a heat & cooling technician. Military rites were held at the grave site with veterans present to present a flag to his father and a gun salute. He is survived by two sons; Anthony Courtright and James Courtright, both of Parsons and one daughter; Kristen Courtright of Parsons; his father, James Courtright of Parsons; three sisters, Rhonda (J.L.) Blackwell of Parsons, Cheryl (Phil) Flowers of Parsons and Luann (Wayne) Yarbro of Parsons; one brother, Randy (Elaine) Courtright of Dawsonville, Georgia, aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He is also survived by a few very special people in is life, Linda Tucker and Brenda Tuten. He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Johannsen Courtright. GRADY F. CRAWLEY , age 78, Decaturville died Monday, September 13, 2004 at his home. Services were held Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at Reed’s Chapel in Decaturville with burial at the Mount Carmel Cemetary. Steve Douglas officiated the service. Grady F. Crawley was born October 27, 1925 in the Mt. Carmel Community, the son of the late Floyd F. and Myrtle Thompson Crawley. He graduated from Decaturville High School in 1943. During World War II he was deferred to operate the family farm and his brother, John, was inducted into the Army in 1943. In 1949 he married Mary Jane Palmer, daughter of the late C.A. and Ruth Adair Palmer of Parsons. In August 1963 Judge Crawley recieved a gubernatorial appointment to serve as General Sessions Judge of Decatur County to replace Judge Roy N. Stout who died in office. In1964 he was elected to finish the unexpired term of Judge Stout. He was re-elected in 1966, 1974, and 1982 for eight year terms. He retired in 1990 after serving a total of 27 years as General Sessions Judge of Decatur County. In 1988 he was elected as West Tennessee Vice-President of the General Sessions Judges Conferences. He was also given the responsibility of being Decatur County Juvenile Judge from 1982 until 1990. Judge Crawley was a devoted member of Decaturville First United Methodist church where he served on the official board, directed choir, taught Bible Class and taught on adult Sunday School Class for 26 years. He and his wife, Mary Anne, established Crawley’s Auto Parts in January 1965. The owned and operated their auto parts business for 26 years, retiring in 1990. After retiring, he enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending enjoyable hours with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by wife, Mary Anne Crawley of Decturville, daughters Karen Broadway of Decaturville, TN, Beth Vanderford of Jackson, TN, Amy Armstrong of of Germantown, TN and son Joel Crawley of Decaturville, TN; eleven grandchildren, Scott Broadway, Kristie Frost, Justin Broadway, Ellen Vanderford, Meridith Vanderford, Sarah Armstrng, Anna Armstrong, Kelli Jo Crawley, Will Crawley, Dakota Bell and Brett Bell; three great grandchildren, Aaron Frost, Austin Frost, and Audrey Broadway, three sisters Nora Lea Hardin of Winchester, TN, Edna Alexander of Jackson, TN, Martha Glenn of Germantown, TN, brother Billy Crawley of Decaturville, TN and sister-in-law Doris Homan of Idaho. He was preceded in death by brothers John Crawley and Monroe Crawley, both of Decaturville, TN Pallbearers were nephews Jim Crawley, Bob Crawley, Chuck Crawley of Decaturville, Kenneth and John Glenn of Memphis and Richard Story of Decaturville.

PAUL J. CURRY ,82, of Greenfield, died Wednesday, June 25, 2008. Services were at 2 pm Sunday at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial was in Peace Chapel Cemetery in Scotts Hill. Curry was born in 1926 in Decatur County, son of the late Herbert and Ozzie Curry. He owned and operated lumber shed businesses and real estate property. Survivors include his wife, Martha Scates Curry of Greenfield; his former wife, Jo Evelyn Tuten Curry; two sons, Ronnie Curry of Milan and Tony Curry of Smyrna; two daughters, Elowese Curry Adkisson and Martha Curry Gordon, both of Milan; a stepson, Michael Scates; a stepdaughter, Trina Gail Pullum; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church in Greenfield.
