RUBEL KELLEY , aged 20 years and a son of Karl Kelly of Scotts Hill, was instantly killed Friday morning when hit by a truck. Several conflicting stories have been told, but none fully cleared up, but this much is known; Rubel who works for the County Highway Department and makes his home in the W.W. Gardner home had been to a protracted meeting with Parnell Gardner and after reaching home, decided to go to Scotts Hill, where his wife was and asked Garner to take him in his car. They had car trouble and abandoned it about Broadway and tarted walking back to the Gardner home. They soon tired and sat down on the highway to rest and smoke and evidently went to sleep. The Gardner boy, who was off the h ighway a little ways says he was awakened by a crash, but didn't know what happened until two men in a car from Parsons came by and found the body of Kelly and called the Pafford ambulance. Kelly's head was crushed and one bone broken in his left arm, and death must have been instantaneous from the hit on his head. One of the largest crowd ever known gathered at Red Walnut Cemetery in Decatur County for young kelly's funeral. He had been married only a few months to Miss Ruby Snyder of Scotts Hill and she with his parents survive him. The funeral services were conducted by Gordon Turner.
