The Eason Family

According to research that has been done, the Easons are closely connected to the history of this nation. The first was in Virginia on August 22, 1637. There have been two and one-half centuries of American descendants since they probably migrated from Ireland. As soon as North Carolina Territory was available, the Easons moved in and quickly became land owners. By 1775 they were settled in Pitt, Dobbs and Edgecomb County.

Isaac Eason Sr. was born as early as 1731. Some were in Anson County NC, migrated to Carroll and Henderson County, TN around 1826 about the same time Scotts Hill was first settled.

Shadrach Eason and his wife Frances moved their family to Henderson County prior to 1830 and remained there until 1860 where he is last recorded as 85 years old. Decatur had been formed by this time and his residence became Decatur County, instead of Henderson.

His son Steven L. Eason and wife Elizabeth lived in the Liberty area of Decatur County. Their son Theopolis Abenr Eason and wife Samantha J. also lived in the Liberty area. He is buried in Liberty Cemetery.

Their son John David married Martha Elizabeth Woody. They had three children; Dewey died when one day old, Jessie Lona and Vera Lois. Jessie married Benny D. Lancaster of the Red Walnut Community. These were ancestorf of James L. Lancaster, Parsons TN. They lived in Decatur County all their lives.

This was submited by Earline Lancaster - I believe it came the History of Decatur County.

The Eason family was instrumental in the settlement of Scotts Hill in Decatur and Henderson Counties. You might check out the Doe Creek School/Church Restoration project in Henderson County. While you there check out the Doe Creek Cemetery - there are a lot of Eason's buried there.
