Bessie Lee (Rogers) Rushing

I, Bessie Lee Rushing, being of sound mind and disposing memory do hereby make and publish this as my Last Will and Testament, hereby revoking any and all wills heretofore by me at any time made.

ITEM 1. I direct my Executor hereinafter named to pay all my just and legal debts, including any taxes which may be legally assessed against my estate, as soon as practicable following my death.

I have money on a time deposit in the First National Bank of Lexington, Tennessee, which can be used for paying my hospital bill. I have money in the Decatur County Bank of Decaturville, Tennessee, the Morgan County National Bank of Decatur, Alabama and the State National Bank of Decatur, Alabama which may be used for my funeral expenses and other bills. Any residue or remainder of these funds will pass under the residuary clause of my will.

ITEM II. I give, will and bequeath to the following persons the articles of personal property set opposite their name.

1. To Mary Wright - my large solitaire diamond ring
2. To Jessie Sue Lee - my square cut diamond ring and all my antique glass.
3. To Melba Brasher - my cluster diamond ring
4. To Rubielien Rogers - my diamond dinner ring
5. To Mary Lillian Brasher - all my sterling silver and imported china
6. To Weaver & Nell Rogers - blonde maple furniture & oil painting with the gold leaf frame
7.To Will & Ruth Rogers - My Rock maple furniture and large mirror
8. To Rube and Ellen Rogers - my antique table
9. To my brother Sam Rogers - one dollar $1.00
10. To my sister, Hattie Beal - my antique dresser and all other furniture not herein specifically disposed of.

ITEM III. I give, will and devise to my sister, Hattie Beal for and during her lifetime my homeplace. During her lifetime it is not to be sold. At her death the homeplace shall pass to my nephew, Alfred Tate Rogers, and to my niece, Rubielien Rogers, share and share alike.

ITEM IV. All the rest and residue of my estate of every kind and character, real, personal or mixed and wheresoever located I give, will, devise and bequeath to my brothers Will T. Rogers, Weaver Rogers, Rube, Rogers, Jesse Rogers, my sister, Hattie Beal, my brother-in-law Ernest Rushing and sister-in-law Lillian Lacy, share and share alike.

ITEM V. I nominate and appoint my brother, Will T. Rogers, as Executor of this my Last Will and testament, and excuse him from giving bond. In the event he should predecease me or should be unable to serve for any reason, I nominate and appoint my brother-in-law Ernest E. Rushing, as Executor of my Last Will and Testament and excuse him from giving bond.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand to this my Will in two typewritten pages and upon each page I have affixed my signature at Nashville Tennessee, this 9th day of september, 1950.

We the undersigned, being requested so to do by the Textatrix, Bessie Lee Rushing, witnessed the foregoing as her last Will and Testament, she declaring the same so to be and acknowledging her signature thereto already made, by signing our names hereto in her sight and presence and in the presence of each other

Bessie Lee Rushing was born in 1891 - she died in 1950.
She is buried in the Decaturville City Cemetery next to her husband Elmer Thomas Rushing born 1888, died 1948.
