Abner Benton

Senate, 30th General Assembly, 1853-1855, representing Carroll, Dyer, and Gibson Counties, party affiliation not shown. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, c.1812, son of Nathaniel Benton. Early a pharmacist, but in 1839 withdrew from the drug business and devoted his time to the practice of medicine. Removed to Dyer County at some unspecified date, revenue commissioner for the county, 1849-1851. Married Mary Ann Wardlow, daughter of Joseph Wardlow. Children, Fannie (Mrs. Thomas W. Neal)- Alfred- H.C.- Amanda- Bejamin F.-H.-R.-E.N.- and W. Benton. Member Methodist Church. Died at some undetermined date between 1870 and 1880. Nephew of Thomas Hart Benton, sometime member Tennessee General Assembly and of U. S. Congress. Father-In-Law to Thomas W. Neal, sometime member Tennessee General Assembly.

Abner Benton b. 1819 d.1869  buried at Dyersburg City Cemetery 

Mary Ann Wardlow Benton b. 11 Apr 1822 d. 21 Nov 1893 buried at Dyersburg City Cemetery

Abner Benton mother was Dorothy Myra Branch

He did not show up on Dyer County census until 1850 and was died when the 1870 came out.
