Affairs In Dyer County

The Dyersburg Gazette Of Wednesday Says

On Monday, Jim and Bud Evans, who have been living in this county for a few months, were arrested near

Friendship by a party of our most respectable citizens, and brought to this place on the charge of horse-stealing.

The next day, one Moody was arrested, and brought to town on the same charge. One of the Evans was last week

arrested, charging him with killing a United States Officer in that county, but he gave bond and was turned loose.

Four gentlemen participating in the arrest of above prisoners, we learn that the evidence against them is conclusive,

fearing that their clan would attempt to resue them, the  prisoners have been strongly guarded every night. Up to the

hour of going to press the trial of the Evans. Gilee Moody and Robert Vaughn was still progressing.
