W. Sue (James) Hood
- Funeral services for W. Sue Hood, 64, will be held at 2 pm. today, November 6, 2001, from the chapel of Replogle-Lawrence Funeral Home conducted by Dr. Don Thrasher. Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery near Medina. Mrs. Hood died Sunday, November 4, 2001, at the home of her mother in Medina. She was born in Carroll County, the daughter of the late Rollen H. James and Ruth Chester James, who survives. She was a graduate of Northside High School in Jackson and a memeber of Mount Gilead Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of Purodenso Corproation in Jackson. Mrs. Hood was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Hood in 1997. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Hood Scott of Medina and Margie Dianne Scott of Humbolt; a son, Rickey Lynn Hood of Humbolt; her mother, Mrs. Ruth James of Medina; three grandchildren, Christopher Cody Scott, Blake Hood and Chase Scott.

WILLIE FRANK MATHIS
- Funeral services for Mr. Willie Frank Mathis, age 79, were held Thursday, January 26 at First Baptist Church of Lexington with Dr. Hoyt Wilson officiating. Burial followed in Poplar Grove Methodist Cemetery in Dyer, TN. Mr. Mathis died Tuesday in Lexington. He was born October 16, 1926 in Gibson County to the late Samuel E. and Dollie Shanklin Mathis. He was a retired employee of Brown Shoe Company, a Mason, and a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Mathis was preceded in death by his son, Nathan Kelly Mathis; three brothers Lawrence, Darrell, and Charles Mathis; and a foster brother, Thomas Mathis. He survived by his daughter, Mrs. Melanie (John) Hatley of Jackson; his brother, Mr. Glenn Mathis of Corinth, MS; his 2 adopted sisters, Donna Bates and Francis Powell of Dyer, TN; and his two grandsons, Marc (Lauren) Hatley and Andrew Hatley of Jackson.

Samuel Brown Williams
- Another faithful soldier of the Cross has laid his armour down and
put on his robe and crown. On June 21, 1921, as the evening shadows were
gathering, the Death Angel visited the home of G. W. Williams and claimed for
its victim, his aged FATHER, SAMUEL B. WILLIAMS. He was born July 6, 1836. he
married Miss Sarah Ophelia RUST July 30, 1868. To this union were born seven
children; G. W. Williams, Mrs. Lee Craig, Mrs. R.H. Barnett, J.R. Williams, of
Gibson County, Mrs. W. S. Stephenson, of Memphis, R.E. Williams, of Paris, and
C.S. Williams, of El Paso, Texas, all present except C.S., who was unable to be
here; 30 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Burial in Rose Hill
Cemetery.
