BIOGRAPHIES of HENDERSON COUNTY

GUY B. AMIS

Well known throughout the county is another native Henderson Countian, who was born December 11, 1897. Mr. Amis is presently cashier of the Central State Bank, and manager of Lexington Amusement Co., which operates the Princess and Strand Theaters. He has held his position at the bank for the past ten years and at the theater for the past 26 years. He is a former principal of Lexington City Schools. Mr. Amis is a son of the late August J. and Bettie Ballard Amis. He came to Lexington in 1920. He attended Lexington High and Union University in Jackson. Mr. Amis is a Royal Arch mason, a member of the board of directers of the Mid-South Allied Theater Owners, and former president of the Henderson COunty Business Club. He is a member of the board of directors of the Lexington Industrial Improvement Association, Inc. On Christmas Eve, 1924 he was married to Alberta Holmes. They have a daughter, Mrs. Carol Ann Stone.
