Herman Austin, manager of Lexington Electric System, is certainly a well-known man in the county. Born February 12, 1898, near Scotts Hill, Mr. Austin came toLexington in 1919. He is a son of Mrs. Ella Holland Austin and the late Jones Austin. On September 18, 1921, he was married to Miss Marguerite Haggard and they have two children, William R. and John A. Mr. Austin attended Lexington city and high school and a Memphis business college. In addition he has completed several short courses in electrical engineering and associated subjects. He is a past vice-president of the West Tenn. Electric Institute and is vice-president elect ofthe Lexington Rotary Club. Mr. Austin served as magistrate from 1924 to 1930 and was Lexington city recorder from 1921 to 1930. For nine years he was manager of the Tennessee Electric Power Co.
