Jackson D. Stewart was the son of Elias and Rachel Stewart, born 3 Jan 1819 in TN and died 6 February 1905 in Navarro County TX. He married Mary Elizabeth Mullins who was born in MS in 1826 - she died 5 Sep 1878 in Henderson Co TN. Abstracts from The Palestine Presbyterian Church show Jackson Stewart was admitted to the church in April 1886. The church just simply show that "he died".

Records show M.F. Stewart also in April 1886 and I have to believe that that might be Mary Elizabeth his wife. V.C. Stewart is listed September 5, 1889 by experience along with M.H. Stewart August 20, 1891 by experience. M.A. Stewart, L.E. Stewart and W.H. Stewart are listed September 20, 1891 by experience and M.A. Stewart was dismissed December 25, 1893. This is about the time some of the family moved to Texas late in 1893..

Notes from June Johnson at Rootsweb World Connect indicate that Jackson served with Company I, 4th Texas Regiment, CSA during Civil War. He moved to Navarro, TX with his son James Franklin Stewart and his family late in 1893.
