IDA M. (GREER) GANTT - was born Feb. 25, 1859 died Jan. 30, 1944, aged 84 years. She was married to Andy J. Gantt Nov. 17, 1879 who preceded her several years ago. To this union were born 10 children, three of whom preceded her; Freeman, Opie and Myrtle. Those surviving are John and Roy, Jackson; Henry of Humboldt, Tom of Beech Bluff; Robert of Clinton KY and Mrs. E.P. Kee, Luray.

JEANNE A. (HILLIARD) GARRETT - Services for Mrs. Jeanne Garrett will be today, Wednesday, November 29, 2 p.m. at Pafford Funeral Home with burial in Independence Cemetery. Mrs. Garrett, who was 41, died Sunday, November 26, at Lexington Methodist Hospital of heart failure. She was a registered nurse. She leaves her husband, David Garrett of Lexington; a daughter, Amy Havard of Lexington; her parents, Jim Hilliard and Helen Phipps Hilliard; two step-sisters, Ellen Adams of Memphis and Christi Null of Southhaven, MS; a step-brother, David Hilliard of Greenfield, TN., and a grandchild.

GRAPER - Born to Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Graper last Saturday night, a stillborn boy. While the loss of the little one is deeply deplored, it is a matter of gratification that Mrs. Grapper is doing remarkably well.

ALTON S. GREEN - Services for Alton S. Green were Monday, May 29, at Pafford Funeral Home with burial in Independence Cemetery. Mr. Green, who was 89, died Sunday, May 28, at Decatur County General Hospital of kidney failure. He was a retired auto worker. He leaves four daughters, Detra Blankenship, Jane Doyle, both of Huron, Claudia Burke and Mitchell Fesmire, both of Lexington; a sister, Lou Ella Farrar of Jackson, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

ADDIE (HORTON) GREENWAY - Services for Mrs. Addie H. Greenway were Friday at Pafford Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Boswell officiating. Burial was in Independence Cemetery. Mrs. Greenway, who was 85, died Tuesday at Jackson General Hospital. She was a homemaker and the widow of Albert V. Greenway, Sr. She leaves two daughters, Opal Greenway and Faye Lovell, both of Lexington; a son, Albert J. Greenway Jr. of Jackson; a brother, Guy Horton of Dyersburg, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Greenway Jr. of Memphis; a sister, Mrs. Ollie Mae Middleton of Saxton, Mo.; five brothers, Mert Greenway of Jackson, Lige Greenway of Beech Bluff, James Greenway of Atwood, Bill Greenway of Lexington and Dunk Greenway of Troy; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

JOHN VERNON GREENWAY - Services for John Vernon Greenway were Tuesday at Pafford Funeral Home with burial in Independence Cemetery. Mr. Greenway, who was 56, died Sunday afternoon at Jackson General Hospital after a long illness. He was a carpenter and contractor and was a member of the Youth Town Boys Club in Pinson. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Nora Sparks Greenway of Huron; four daughters, Mrs. Patricia Sloan, Mrs. Barbara Cross, Mrs. Terri Austin, all of Lexington and Mrs. Joyce Allen of Huron; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Greenway of Lexington; a brother, Albert Greenway Jr. of Memphis; two sisters, Mrs. Eddie Fae Lovell and Miss Opal Greenway, both of Lexington and 12 grandchildren.

STACEY JO GREENWAY - Services for Stacey Jo Greenway were Monday, July 5, at Pafford Funeral Home, Scotts Hill with burial in Independence Cemetery. Miss Greenway, who was 18, died Saturday, July 3, at Decatur County General Hospital of injuries received in an auto accident. She was a part-time employee. She leaves her father and mother, Johnny and Kathy Greenway of Scotts Hill; two brothers, John Greenway of Reagan and Rocky Greenway of Scotts Hill; and grandmothers, Jamie Greenway, Minnie Hollowell and Lucy Nunnery.

LILLY ESTES (SHEPPARD) GRIFFIN - Services for Mrs. Lilly Estes Griffin 65, were scheduled for Thursday afternoon from Pafford Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. A.U. Nummery of Parsons and the Rev. Edwin Duesner of Lexington. Mrs. Griffin died at her home in Nashville Tuesday following a stroke. A native Henderson Countian Mrs. Griffin spent practically all her life here, moving to Nashville 5 years ago. She was a daughter of the late John and Sarah Ruddle Sheppard. Her husband J.E. Griffin died 13 years ago. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Nadine Samuel of Louisville KY; Alyne Griffin of Nashville, a son Elbert Griffin also of Nashville; four sisters, Mrs. Edna Stewart, Hollywood, CA, Mrs. Bertha Wilkerson, Bemis; Mrs. Edith Tomlin, Madison; and Mrs. Ramell Brantley, Pekin IL; two brothers, Elmer and Carl Sheppard of Lexington. Burial will be in Beech River Cemetery.

Burial was in the church cemetery with Reed’s Chapel in charge. Mr. Grimsley, who was 69, died Saturday at Lexington Hospital after a long illness. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Teler Grimsley of Lexington; a stepson, Bill Overman of Belle Bills, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Jean Britt and Mrs. Connie Lou Churchwell, both of Lexington; a half brother, Frank Tate of Lexington; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Hart, Mrs. Mae Garvey and Mrs. Lena Williams, all of Lexington; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

BILL GROSS - Services for Mr. Bill Gross, 72, were Monday March 23, 2009 in the Chapel of Pafford Funeral Home with Charles Thomason and Billy White officiating. Private graveside services followed on Tuessday at Henderson CountyMemory Gardens in Lexington. Mr. Gross, a retired construction supervisor, was the son of the late Henry and Lucille Whittle Gross and died Saturday March 21, 2009 in Jackson. In his free time, Bill enjoyed fishing, wood working an dcould literaly fix or build anything. He is survived by his wife of44 years, Joann Gross of Huron; their daughter, Kim Carrington and her husband Rusty of Darden and their children, Jesslyn and Allie; a son, Billy Gross and his wife Elizabeth of Jackson and their children, Sarah and Ryan; a sister Betty Joyner of Huron and a brother, Bobby Gross of Lexington. He was preceded by a son, Timothy Gross.

LOU NELL (HAGGARD) GULLEDGE - Funeral services for Mrs. Gulledge were Friday at Parsons Mortuary Chapel. Interment followed in Cedar Hill. Mrs. Gulledge, age 62, died Sept. 24, 2008 at Decatur Co. Gen. She was preceded by her mother Ella Quinn Haggard, father Henry Haggard, a sister, Dorothy Jean Haggard. Survivors include her husband WIlburn Gulledge, Holladay; one brother William Haggard, Parsons four sisters, Virginia Hayes, Bonnie Tubbs, Rita Taylor and Freda Smith.
