STANLEY TALLEY - Services for Stanley Talley were Wednesday from Broadway Methodist Church in Bowling Green KY. Mr. Talley died Monday night at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville where he had undergone an operation. Death was attributed to cerebral hemorrhage. He was 36. Mr. Talley was stricken April 22 while singing in the choir of the First Baptist Church. Later he was carried to the hospital and his condition gradually became worse following the operation. Mr. Talley h ad lived in Lexington for the past several months where he ws associated with his brother, A.S. Talley in a shoe store. He was a veteran of the last war and a member of the Lions Club. Mr. Talley was a member of the Broadway Methodist Church in Bowling Green. He is survived by a son, Stanley Jr. of Hanover PA; four brothers, A.S. in Lexington; J.M. in Indianapolis; Mansfield in Baltimore; two sisters Mrs. Brookshire and Mrs. Graves and his father N.A> Talley all of Bowling Green.

CHARLES HALL TIMBERLAKE - a leading young lawyer from Lexingotn, died at one a.m., yesterday at a sanatorium in Memphis. Last Wednesday Mr. Timberlake was removed to the sanitorium for treatment. His sudden death was a shock to his family and friends as strong hopes were entertained for his ultimate recovery. The deceased was a son of Col. E.J. Timberlake of Lexington, and a nephew of W.P. Timberlake of this city. Quite a large gathering of friends assembled in this city to accompany the remains to Lexington. Among the many prominent people comprising those in attendance were Mr. W.V. Barry of The Lexington Progress and Mr. N.R. Barham of Lexington.

EDWARD JULIUS TIMBERLAKE - At his home in Timberlake on Tuesday morning, at 7 o'clock, Mr. E.J. Timberlake, who has been sick for about four weeks, died from aggravated stomach trouble. Mr. Timberlake was 66 years of age at this death and is survived by his wife [Louisa H. Small Timberlake] and the following children, Mrs. John E. McCall, Mrs. N.R. Barham, Mrs. Jessie McNabb, John Richard Timberlake and Capt. E.J. Timberlake, Jr., all of whom were with him at the end except Capt. Timberlake, who could not come on account of illness in his own family at this post. Every attention was given by Mr. Timberlake by his home physician, Dr. J.H. Howard, and several specialists had been called from Jackson and Nashville during the past two weeks and the constant care and nursing of his wife and children who spared nothing to render him relief and who were devotion itself in their attention to him. In the death of Mr. Timberlake the county loses one of its best and most useful citizens. Always of a progressive spirit he identified himself with every undertaking for the uplift of the community, and he was one man who could always be found on the moral side of every question. He was a faithful and consistent member of the M.E. Church, South, and was buried surrounded by his fellow members and a large gathering of friends at Beech River on Wednesday morning. Mr. Timberlake served one term as Circuit Court Clerk and represented this county in the Legislature at one session [1875-1877]; was a licensed attorney and practiced for awhile in the courts here. In 1889 he organized the Bank of Lexington, the first bank in the county, and served as its Cashier until 1907, when he organized the Farmers Union Bank and at his death was its President and most active officer. His influence for good in the community will be felt for many years we trust, and his life and inspiration to the younger men who came in contact with him.

GEORGE ERN TOWNSEND - Services for George Ern Townsent, 73, will be conducted this (Friday) afternoon at 2 from Pafford Funeral Home chapel by Joe Cooke Van Dyke. Mr. Townsend died early Thursday morning at he home of his son, Dorsey Townsend. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Born in Carroll County Mr. Townsend moved to Henderson County about 20 years ago. He was a farmer and had been caretaker of Lexington Cemetery until he ws forced to retire. In addition to his son, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Will Myracle of Lexington; a sister, Mrs. Addie Loveland of Camden; a half sister, Mrs. Donie Hopper of Ridgely. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery.

FLOYD FAWCETT TRAVIS - Funeral services for Mr. Floyd Fawcett Travis, 82, were Sunday Oct. 19, 2008 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home with Dr. Hoyt Wilson and Dr. Gilbert Cubbison officiating. Burial followed in Henderson County Memory Gardens. Mr. Travis in Memphis. He was born Sept. 23, 1926 in Madison County to the late Floyd Fawcett Travis Sr and Willie Mae Flew Travis. He was a retired supervisor for South Central Bell, a member of First Baptist Church in Lexington, American Legion in Lexington and Telephone Pioneers. He was preceded by one son, Andy Travis. Survivors include his wife Nora Jane, his daughter, Susan all of Lexington and two grandchildren, Amy and Bryan of Murfreesboro.

SUSAN TRAVIS - Funeral services for Ms. Susan Travis, 55, wee Monday November 10, 2008 in the chapel of Pafford Fuenral Home in Lexington with Dr. Mike Adams officiating. Burial followed in Henderson Memory Gardens. Ms. Travis died Saturday in Jackson TN after a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis. Ms. Travis was born July 28, 1953 in Madison County. She was a retired accounts payable clerk for Magnetek and a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded by her parents, the late Floyd and Thressa Barker Travis and one brother Andy Travis. Survivors include her stepmother, Nora Travis, dear friends, Judy Moody and Valerie Rhodes both of Lexington adn dedicated care giver Carolyn Gooch of Wildersville. Pallbearers were David Rhodes, Harvey Moody, Dan Hughes, George Flew, Royce Grooms and Tommy Willis. Honorary pallbearers will be Bennie Scott, Carroll Gilliland, Frank Flew, Will Rogers and the Airborne Sunday School Class.

CLAUDIUS HOWARD TRICE - Services for Claudius Howard Trice were Saturday at 1:30 at Oak Grove Church of Christ, Henderson, with Bro. Oscar Womack officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Parham Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Trice, 20, died instantly when the car in which he was a passenger wrecked on Nov. 21, 1966 when he was returning to the air force base in Symrna. He was graduate of Montgomery High School. He was a devoted son to this mother and always looked after the welfare of the members of his family. He was a highly respected Henderson Countian for his courtesy and kindness. He leaves his mother, Mrs. Cynthia Jones; step-father, James H. Jones; three brothers, James Aaron Jones, Miwatha Jones and Kenneth Jones all of Lexington; four sisters, Linda Kay Jones, Lavaughn Jones, Priscilla Jones all of Lexington; uncle, Odway G. Trice of Philadelphia PA; six aunts, Mrs. John Watson of Indianapolis, Mrs. Weakley Fulton of St. Louis, Mrs. Vessie L. Flakes, Mrs. Seldon Teague, Mrs. Virginia L. Douglas all of Lexington and Mrs. Ctahon Robinson of Itta Bena MS, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jones of Lexington and four great aunts.

RAYMOND LEWIS TUBBS - The body of Raymond L. Tubbs, Technician, 5th Grade, who was killed in Fulda, Germany, August 14th, arrived at his home in Yuma on Wednesday of last week. Funeral services will be this afternoon (Monday) at Farmville Cemetery. Mr. Tubbs served five months in France the later part of 1944 being wounded in action November 11th of that year. He was with the Seventh Army. He entered the Army in March 1943. He reenlisted in January of this year and was sent to Germany with the Army of Occupation. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. D.M. Tubbs of Yuma. Other survivors are his wife, Irene Tubbs of Yuma, a sister, Estelle Todd of Yuma, and two brothers, Wayne Tubbs, who is expected to arrive from Japan in a few days, and Hollis Tubbs of Huntingdon.

GEORGE CLINT TULLEY - Services for George Clint Tulley were Friday at Pafford Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Hopper officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cem. Mr. Tulley age 73, died early Wednesday morning at Lexington Meth. Hsp. He was a native of Henderson County and a Lexington Feed Mill employee. He leaves his wife, Inez Pearson Tulley; five sons,Jack, James, Joey and Mike all of Lexington and George of Viola WI; a daughter Mrs. Nell Holliday of Phoenix AZ; three sisters, Mrs. Tommy Fuller, Mrs. Estell Davis and Mrs. Ledell Johnson, all of Lexington; 18 grandchildren.

JIM TULLEY - At an early hour Tuesday morning on Denmark Hill on the Nashville , Chattanooga & St. Louis Railway, Jim Tulley aged 17, while beating his way from Memphis to Lexington on a freight train, fell from the car on which he wsa riding and was so badly injured that he died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Crook Sanatorium at Jackson. Tulley's injuries were principally a mangled leg which necessitated amputation and contusion of the side. The injured boy was rushed to Jackson to the infirmary and given every possible attention, but he died in spite of all efforts to save him. Tulley is said to have become conscious before he died and to have made the statement that he was on his way to Lexington in the way stated and that he was in an intoxicated condition, which was the cause of the fall. Jim Alexander, uncle of Tulley, accompanied by Dr. R.H. Davidson went to Jackson Tuesday morning, but the boy was dead when they reached the city. The remains were brought to Lexington and interred on Wednesday. It will be remembered that John Tulley, father of the unfortunate boy, lost his life on the railroad at the Lexington depot, being run over by a car on the track which passes on the town side of the station building to the coal chute.

JOEY T. TULLEY - Services for Joey K. Tulley were held Friday, September 2, 2005 at Reeds Chapel. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery. Mr. Tulley age 61, died August 31, 2005 at Henderson Hospital. Survivors include 3 brothers, George of Richland Center WI, James of Lexington and Mike of Lexington, and a sister, Lynell Johnston of San Angelo TX.

LAVERNE (AZBILL) TURNIPSEED went to join her heavenly family on June 14, 2009. She was preceded by her mother Mary Brower Azbill, her father James Calvin Azbill and her three brothers, John Armstrong Azbill, Billy Lee Azbill (surviving spouse Peggy). Her brother, Jimmy Calvin Azbill (spouse Kay), survives. Mrs. Turnipseed leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Billy Eugene Turnipseed; her son, Billy Ted Turnipseed; and her daughter Teresa Lynn Tibbs (dusty). Mrs. Turnipseed's legacy includes her grandchildren; Felecia Malone (Kirk), John Fesmire (Trisha), and Adam Fesmire as well as her great grandchildren; Skylar Wood, Sam Malone, and Kirsti Malone. She also leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews and extended family that loved her, as did her manmy friends. Her wishes were to have a private memorial with her family, which will be held in the home. For those who desire to show expressions in lieu of flowers and gifts, the family is suggesting that contributions in her name may be made to St. Jude Hospital or the American Heart Association.
