Noell Carter, Tuscon, AZ. Much of the info found here is taken from a bible record in the possession of D.J. Montgomery, Jonesboro, Ark., a great-grandson of Jesse G. Noell, paternal grandfather of Mrs. Carter. Much of the infomation which follows regarding Jesse G. Noah was taken from this bible, but in addition are notes taken from various census records of TN & MO and court house records in Stoddard Co MO. Jesse G. Noell & Mary Jane WILSON married in Henry Co TN by the Rev. Henry BOBLETT, on 19 May 1850. (Mary Jane WILSON born 24 Jan 1832, died 6 Jun 1856.) Children: Zachariah NOELL born 28 Mar 1851, died 13 Dec 1851. Thomas NOELL born 3 Jun 1852, died 17 Jan 1873. Mary Ann Elizabeth NOELL born 26 Oct 1853, died 6 Feb 1855. Benjamin Franklin NOELL born 6 May 1856, died 28 Aug 1861. Jesse G. NOELL them married wife #2 Martha Ann BERRY 18 Dec 1856. (Martha A. BERRY born 10 Jul 1835, died 10 Dec 1862 probably in KY where last child was born) Children: William Kelley NOELL born 24 Oct 1857, died 1930 Stoddard Co MO, Married Sallie VAUGHT, Elk Creek Township, Stoddard Co MO on 13 Mar 1884. Jeremiah Nathan NOELL born 24 Mar 1859, died 18 Apr 1859. Susan James NOELL born 29 May 1860, died 2 Feb 1884. Census records of Stoddard Co MO indicate she was born in KY. Her marriage to John DICKERSON 31 Aug 1879 in Stoddard Co MO was solemnized by J.V. SIMMONS. Jesse NOELL's first recorded marriage in Stoddard Co MO was to Argent HARTWICK, widow of Acey HARTWICK & mother of four children named HARTWICK at time of marriage. Argent HARTWICK & her oldest child were listed as having been born in TN; the other three children born in MO. The 1870 census for Stoddard Co MO indicates Argent was 33 years old at the time. Children were: Nancy HARTWICK, 18, born TN.; Matthew Madison HARTWICK, 16, born MO.; Mary HARTWICK, 14, born MO.; Richard HARTWICK, 11, born in Missouri. Argent HARTWICK-NOELL died in Stoddard Co MO 7 Dec 1877. She and Jesse G. NOELL were the parents of three children. Children: Samuel Harris NOELL born 10 Oct 1866, died 1 Mar 1930 in Craighead Co AR, buried at Coles Corner, out from Jonesboro a few miles, along with his wife Annie Frances HOWELL, whom he married 14 Feb 1889 in Stoddard Co MO with Elder W.K. SHEPHERD officiating. She died 25 Dec 1824 [sic.]. Descendants live in Craighead Co AR. Polly Virginia NOELL born 29 May 1868 in Stoddard Co MO, married 30 Jul 1891 to John W. HARRISON in Stoddard Co MO, death date unknown. No surviving descendants. Jesse Oliver NOELL born 3 Jul 1872, Stoddard Co MO, died 16 Jul 1888 Stoddard Co MO. Jesse Grizzard NOELL & Elisabeth JOHNSON married 29 Jan 1878, Stoddard Co MO. She died 31 Jul 1878 Stoddard Co MO shortly after their marriage and no children to this union. Jesse NOELL then married Jane CARLIN BARBOUR in Stoddard Co MO 6 May 1879. She was daughter of Lemuel & Charlotte CARLIN & was born in Dresden, Weakley Co TN. Jane CARLIN is listed in the 1840 & 1850 Obion Co TN census along with her parents, brothers & sisters. She married a man named BARBOUR (no record found) & had three children at time of her marriage to Jesse NOELL. William BARBOUR, 10 yrs born TN. Mary Jane BARBOUR age 8 yrs born KY (maybe Graves Co) 9 Aug 1872, died 7 Apr 1953 Dunklin Co MO. Sophrina Adeline BARBOUR, 14 yrs born in MO. Jess. G. NOELL & Jane GARLIN BARBOUR NOELL had one son: John Baptist NOELL born 21 Sep 1880 in Stoddard Co MO. John Baptist NOELL was the rather of four children all born in Dunklin Co MO. Virgie May NOELL born 10 Jul 1907 (Child of 1st marriage to Hattie Belle WILLIFORD, 7 Feb 1904.) Virgie died 14 Sep 1908. John Baptist NOELL married 2nd to Ann Eliza MEREDITH, 3 Sep 1909, Dunklin Co MO. (Anne Eliza was mother of Mary J. NOELL-CARTER.) Mary Jane NOELL born 9 Jun 1916 Dunklin Co MO. Married Aruel Francis CARTER 30 Mar 1935.
