JERE LAWRENCE BROOK

Born at Henderson Tenn., on March 10, 1874. Of Scotch-English-Irish descent. His parents are Joseph Alexander and Martha Cooper Cawthon Crook. Paternal grandparents, Jeremiah and Polly Arnold Crook. Maternal grandparents, John Lawrence and Martha Cooper Cawthon. Educated in the public schools of Madison County; Union University, M.A. 1892; Vanderbilt University, M.D. 1894. A Baptist; Democrat; Odd Fellow; Elk; W.O.W.; Jackson Rotary Ex-Pres; A member of the Jackson Country Club and the Chamber of Commerce. Served his internship in City and County Hospital in Sacramento CA, in 1894-95. Has practiced his profession in Jackson since that itme. With his father he is the founder in 1908 of the Crook Sanatorium, Inc., and he is now Pres. and Chief of Staff. Member of the surgical staffs of various railways; Vice President and Director of Sun Publishing Co.; Director of Second Natl. Bank; Chairman of six counties in the Medical Advisory Board during the World War; Capt of S.A.T.C. unit, Union University; Ex-Pres. of the Jackson Y.M.C.A.; Trustee Union University; Fellow American Medical Assoc. and American College of Surgeons; Member of SOuth Med. Assoc; Ex.Pres TN State Medical Assoc. Tri State Med. Assoc, West TN Med. Assoc, Madison Med Assoc; Ex Pres & Chairman of Committee which wrote the Constitution of the So. Medical Assoc. in 1906. Married Jennie June Jones April 21, 1898 and married again to Millian Cooke Green June 17, 1914. The father of seven children; Senter C., Jerry L., Jr. Joseph A., William Grant, Nancy Green, Martha C., ANgus McDonald.
