IDA WALLACE - Services for Mrs. Ida Wallace, 84, widow of the late David J. Wallace, were conducted Sunday afternoon from Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Jackson by the Rev. J. David Kidwell. Mrs. Wallace died Saturday morning ( 25 August 1951) at Jackson Hospital where she had been carried Saturday afternoon. Her health had steadily declined since June. Mrs. Wallace was a member of the First Christian Church. She ws born in Caruthersville MO but moved to Jackson in early life. Survivors include four sons, Fred, San Antonio; William of Dallas, J.D. and Henry both of Jackson; four daughters Mrs. Naomi Wells, Mrs. L.A. Steffey and Mrs. Arthur Lane all of Jackson and Mrs. Jimmy Williams of Medina; a sister Mrs. Julia Lancaster of Lexington; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Attending the funeral from Lexington were Mrs. ulia Lancaster, Mrs. Witt Lancaster, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Blankenship and Mary Frances Blankenship, J.F. Warren, 65, will be at 1:30 PM, Sunday, April 19, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home with Bro. Frank Harris and Bro. Danny Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Mason Wells Cemetery on Rocky Springs Road. Mr. Warren died Friday, April 17, 2009 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was born in Madison County, educated in the county schools and graduated from South Side High School in 1961. He worked for the Cain Sales for eighteen years and later worked for the Madison County Highway Department for eleven years. He was a member of the Mason Wells Baptist Church, served as a Deacon and taught a Sunday School class. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World Lodge #293 for thirty-four years. He was the son of James Paul Warren and the late Mabel Burks Warren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Edward Warren. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Weir Warren, to whom he was married April 10, 1965; two sons, Tony Warren of Jackson and Terry Warren and wife Carol of Pinson; his father, James Paul Warren of Mercer; two brothers, Roger Warren and Don Warren both of Mercer; four grandchildren, Whitney Hogg, Dustin Warren, Morgan Warren and Shelbie Warren; two great-grandchildren, Austin Tilley and Skyler Hogg and four step-grandchildren, Chuck Godwin, Angie Tilley, Josh Pulley and Michael Stinson. Active pallbearers will be Clint West, Alvin Jones, Gerry Cooper, Donnie Hampton, Alan Jowers and Randy Grisham. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 till 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Weaver were Saturday at the Highland Hts. Methodist Church with the REv. Harold E. Watkins and Rev. Charles Tripp officiating. Burial was in Highland Memorial Gardens. Mr. Weaver, 73, died Thursday night in his sleep at the home of his daughter in Jackson. He was born at Sardis and had taught school in Henderson County for several years and was principal of the Sardis High School. He was a veteran of WW 1 and was in the Army Medical Corps. He had been a resident of Jackson since 1942. He was a Methodist and active in church work. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Romie W. Neisler of Jackson and Miss Princella Weaver of Memphis; a son, Monte J. of Memphis; a brother Walter L. of Reagan; two sisters, Mrs. Irby K. Pope of Lexington and Mrs. G.E. Smith of Sardis and four grandchildren. Lexington Progress 17 Mar 1966 ANNIE M. (KELTNER) WEBB , 82, died Thursday at McNairy County General Hospital after a long illness. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Shackelford Funeral Home of Selmer with burial in Providence Cemetery near Alamo. She was a member of Chewalla Baptist Church. Mrs. Webb, the wife of Ernest S. Webb, also leaves a daughter, Anne C. Weaverof Alamo; a son, Ralph Webb of Ramer, six grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. MARY (THREADGILL) WELLS - Services for Mrs. Wells, 88, are scheduled for 11 a.m. January 21, 2009 in the Chapel of Pafford Funeral Home with Rev. Stan McDaniel officiating. Mrs. Mary (Threadgill) Wells, the daughter of the late Joseph Ernest and Willie Mae (Thomas) Threadgill, died late Friday evening, January 16, 2009 at her residence. She was a retired office manager of Milan Arsenal and a member of the First United Meth. Church of Lexington. Survivors include her four nephews; Lynn Townsend and Barry Townsend of Lexington, David Townsend of Collierville and Jere Matthews of Hot Springs AR and a niece, Joyce Pennington of Overland Park KS; brother in laws; Lyman Townsend and John Matthews. Lexington Progress 21 Jan 2009 CLARENCE EDWIN WHEELER - Service for Charles Wheeler, age 82, will be at held 3:00 P. M. on Wednesday September 12, 2007 at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Dr. Craig Christina and Dr. Jerry Barker and Ron Hale officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Charles died Monday September 10, 2007 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was born on October 3, 1924 in Lexington, TN the son of the late Joseph and Mattie Luella Miller Wheeler. Charles graduated from Malesus High School and Began work with GM & O railroad. He joined the Naval Air force in 1942 he served as a turret gunner on an airplane assigned to submarine patrol, after his discharge from the service in 1945 he once again joined GM & O railroad as a carman apprentice where he served as a local chairman, he was elected as General Chairman of the GM &O joint Protective Board representing five railroads in 1956. In 1972 he was elected assistant to the President of the Railway Employees Dept. AFL-Cio and 1976 was elected General Vice President to the National railway adjustment board in Chicago. In 1985 he was elected President of the Brotherhood Railway Carmen in Kansas City, MO and was later elected Vice President of transportation commutations union, also while holding the Presidency of the railroad Carmen division in Kansas City, MO. He retired from Transportation Communication in 1989 and moved back to Jackson,TN. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a active member of the couples Holland - Cullen Sunday School Class. Charles enjoyed baseball, golf and playing bridge. He leaves his wife of sixty two years, Edith Kerby Wheeler of Jackson, TN; children, Danny Richard Wheeler, Charles Edwin Wheeler Jr. and Lisa Ann Clark. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; one brother, Joe Wheeler Jr. of Birmingham, AL; four sisters, Orene Strandell of Farmington, MI; Thelma Jones of Mesa, AZ, Mildred Lancaster of Hendersonville, TN and Norma Jean Buzzelli of Warren, MI. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jan Wheeler Faulkner and two grandsons, Brandon Armour and Baby Bruce Armour. EMILEE KAY WHITE - Services for Emilee Kaye White were Tuesday at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home Jackson with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Madison County. Miss White 19, died Saturday at Lexington Hospital fo injuries received in an automobile accident. She was a student at the Tennessee Technology Center of Jackson. She leaves her parents, Pat Alexander White and Bobby Joe White Sr. of Beech Bluff; a sister Mandy White Edens of Beech Bluff; a brother Bobby Joe White Jr. of Beech Bluff and her grandparents C.L. and Mary Alexander of Jackson. Lexington Progress 4/25/2001 SUE (McLEMORE) WHITE - Funeral services for Mrs. Sue McLemore White, 91, will be today, October 5, 2001 at 2 pm at Replogle-Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel in Medina with Don McCaslin officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens in Jackson. Mrs. McLemore died Wednesday night at West TN Skilled Nursing Center. She was the daughter of the late Earl McLemore and Lula Mills McLemore and was born in Carroll County. She moved to Madison County and was educated in the Madison County Schools. Mrs. White was a retired hairdresser and a member of Sunset View Church of Christ at Spring Creek. She was preceded in death by her husband James O. White in 1977 and a daughter Janetta Ann White Caldwell in 1980. Survivors include two daughters Christine Galloway and h usband, John of Spring Creek and Great Dean Gurley and husband, Ray of Spring Creek; two sons, James Anthony White and wife, Brenda of Spring Creek and Thomas R. Bennie was the owner of the Food Bank for many years. He passed away at his residence Friday April 17, 2009. He was born December 16, 1922 in Madison Co. the son of the late Samuel and Lillian Matthews Whitman. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Whitman; a son Benny Whitman of Amsterdam, Netherlands; daughters Alice Breeden Tate of Bolivar, TN, Brenda Nanney of Jackson, TN and Terri Whitman of Bemis, TN; sisters Dorothy Watson of Jackson, TN and Minnie Sue Leath of Milan, TN; Seven grandchildren and Twelve great grandchildren. AR on Jan. 4, 1916, the daughter of the late Darful Henry Ford and Bertha Hickman Thomason. She was a etired employee from the spinning department at the former Bemis Mill. She was a member of the Bemis Pentecostal Church where she had taught Sunday School for some 25 years. She is survived by a daughter Nancy Wimpee Garner of Jackson; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded by her husband, Benjamin david Wimpee Jr.; one daughter Patricia Jean WImpee and a son, Orville Lee Wimpee. OLLIE M. WINSLOW - Services for Mrs. W.N. She was born and reared in Henderson County but had made her home in Madison Co. for the past 50 years. She was a Methodist. She leaves her husband W.N. Winslow of near Jackson; four sons, Elton, William and Earl Winslow of Jackson and Edward of Memphis; a daughter Mrs. Elaine Travers of Jackson; two brothers Fenner Russell and Edward Russell of Henderson County; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Winslow of Lexington and 11 grandchildren. Larry Murphy, Dr. Bob Elliott and Rev. John Norvell officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Rev. Wise died Monday Aug. 20, 2001 at Jackson Hsp. He was born Oct. 15, 1927 in Henderson Co., the son of John Gesper and Willie Burton Franklin Wise. Rev. Wise attended North Side High School and Union University. He pastored Baptist Churches in the West TN area for 53 years. He held various positions in the associations in which he pastored and served on the Executive Board of the Tennessee Baptis Convention for two terms. He participated in several North American and international mission endeavors. Rev. Wise was currently serving as pastor of Middlefork Road Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Betty Rogers Wise; two daughters, Carla Jacobs and husband Jerry of Jackson and Carol WIlliams of Nashville; one grandaughter Allison Williams of Waco Texas and three stepdaughters, Jennifer and Angela Jacobs of Jackson and Rebecca Miller of Clarksville. Preceded by four sisters, Lula Wise, Frances Michael, Oma Sagul and Ione Jones. Pallbearers are the members of the Middlefork Rd. Church Steering Commitee, Danny Cashion, Johnny Connor, Carroll Connor, Denny Greenway, Kenneth Hooper and Joe Wadley. Honorary pallbearer are fellow ministers and deacons of former churches in which he served. Jackson Sun 22 Aug 2001 MARY WOOD - wife of C.C. Wood, who five years ago was a prorietor of the Scott Hotel, died at her home in Memphis Friday of last week and her remains were brought to Jackson Saturday for interment. Mrs. Wood leaves ahusband, four daughters and two sons, three daughters and one son being married. While in Lexington the Progress family had no better friends than the Wood family and we sympathize with them in the loss of this loved one. He was a native of Henderson County, but had lived most recently in Humboldt. He was a retired mechanic. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Sadie Williams Woods of Humboldt; three sons, Jimmy Woods and Michael Woods, both of Jackson and Ronald Woods of Humboldt; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Edwards of Bells, Mrs. Carolyn Day of Humboldt and Mrs. Cynthia Campbell of Jackson; two brothers Odell Woods of Kenton and Martin Woods of Union City; three sisters Mrs. Magaline Duke of Darden, Mrs. Minnie Petty and Mrs. Winnie Little, both of Lexington and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Woods, who was 71, died Feb. 12, 2002 at Maplewood Health Care in Jackson. She as a factory worker. She leaves three daughters; Mary Edwards of Jackson, Cindy Taylor of Humboldt and Carolyn Day of Lexington; two sons; Michael Woods ofJackson and Ronald Woods of Jackson; one sister, Virginia Woods of Kenton TN; and nine grandchildren. Lexington Progress 20 Feb 2002 ELLA (WAYNICK) WOOLFOLK , 92, retired teacher, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009 at Life Care Center in Columbia. The Madison County native was the daughter of the late Charles Pearl Waynick and Lilla Adele Goodrich Waynick. On Nov. 24, 1938, she married William Woolfolk who preceded her in death in 1996. She was a graduate of Spring Creek High School and earned her Bachelors Degree at Lambuth University and her Masters Degree at University of Memphis. In her many years as teacher, librarian and counselor, Mrs. Woolfolk had worked throughout Madison County, including Browns High School, Mercer High School, Beech Bluff High School, and North Side High School. She was a member of Tennessee Education Association and a charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Survivors include three sons, Gary Woolfolk of Nashville, John (Pat) Woolfolk of Columbia and Robert (Nancy) Woolfolk of Murfreesboro; one brother, Polk Waynick of Jackson; five grandchildren, Scott (Cher) Woolfolk, Amy (Jeff) Adkerson, Matt Woolfolk, Megan Woolfolk, and Shannon Woolfolk; and three great grandchildren Jackson Sun ROBERT C. WYAND - Private family services for Robert C. Wyand 52, were held Wednesday at George A. Smith and Sons Main Street Chapel in Jackson with Rev. Gregory Fuller officiating. Mr. Wyand, a heavy construction equipment operator died Monday morning at Jackson Hospital after a short illness. He was a native of Rochester NY had lived in Parsons about a month, and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Survivors are his wife, Elsie Wyand, a daughter Miss Jacqueline Wyland of Parsons; three sons, Bruce and Robert both of Rochester and Keith of Decaturville; four sisters Mrs. Charlotte Trovato and Ms. Catherine Wyand both of Rochester, Mrs. Marjorie Post of Parma NY and Mrs. Marian Koch of New Hampshire; and three grandchildren, Lexington Progress 20 Nov 1982
