Evander has not been very helpful in allowing us to find out about his early years. We have been able to accumulate a little information. It sems as if he was born on May 10, 1815 in North Carolina and his primary occupation was that of being a farmer. He married a gal named Sarah with the middle initial of A. This info came from her tombstone, and unfortunately we have not not yet identified her maiden name. According to the census records, they had three children born in North Carolina 2. Martha A. Archer 3. Sarah Elvira Archer Apparently they then migrated to Georgia, where they were in 1850 and produced three more children that were born in Georgia 4. Newton Oliver Archer 6. Henry Clay Archer And one son, that we are not aware of the birth location. 7. Francis J. Archer They were then attracted to the great state of Tennesse and here they stayed. After arriving in Tennesse, they gave birth to three more offspring 8. Pinckney Washington Archer 22Sep1855 - 6Jan1900 9. Mary Jane Archer 10. John Lard Archer Bethel Springs in McNairy County of Tennessee was their stopping point. This is also the final resting place. Evander and Sarah are buried in Bethel Springs Cemetery and many of their descendants are buried in Refuge Cemetery, a few miles to the north of Bethel Springs. Both of these cemeteries are adjacent to a church.
