Obituary: Brownwood Bulletin Death 30 Aug 1968
J.E. Lewis 71, Funeral for J.E. (Jewel Elmer) Lewis, 70, of 2515 Vincent St. will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Davis Morris Funeral Home with the Rev. George Slayton Officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park. Mr Lewis died at 2:15 p.m. Friday following a brief illness. Born Nov 13, 1897 in Red River County, he was a retired engineer for the Santa Fe Railroad. A Baptist, he lived 40 years in Brownwood and was a member of the brotherhood of Locomotive engineers. He was married to Eva May Murphy at Dallas Dec 2, 1917. Survivors included his wife: two daughters Mrs Faye Griffin and Mrs Lucille Young both of Dallas; three sisters, Mrs Viola Barry, Mrs Lonnie Gryder, Mrs Rada Jones all of Dallas; one brother B.W.
