Burleson County was created in 1846 from Milam and Washington Counties. The county was named for Edward Burleson, a hero of the Texas Revolution. Its county seat is Caldwell, which is the agribusiness center of the area. Land uses in Burleson County are “Traditionally Texas”: cotton, corn, grain sorghum, soybeans, watermelons and cattle grazing.
