1850 Census - Zodiac Community

Transcribed by Jimmy Davis

Zodiac Community

The Zodiac Community consisted of a group of Mormons under the leadership of Elder, Lyman Wight, who broke off from the Mormons who settled in Utah. Their colony consisted of homes, mills, a school and a wood working shop. A flood washed away much of the buildings and the mills and they left in 1853. The site was about four miles east of Fredericksburg on the Pedernales River. There is supposed to be a fenced cemetery at the site.
