Sutton County
Sutton County is named for John S. Sutton, an officer in the Confederate Army.   Founded April 1, 1887

Sutton County
"Section 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texas. That two new counties, one to be called Sutton County, and one to be called Schleicher County, are hereby created out of the county of Crockett, Sutton County was organized with Sonora as the county seat on November 4, 1890..."
