Benjamin F. Folley who died August 28, 1943, homesteaded approximately 4000 acres of land in the early 1900's that bordered on the salt fork of the Pease river. He had nine children. His wife Maggie was killed when a horse and buggy she was driving turned over and killed her. The community of Folley (which no longer exists) was named after him and at one time there was a post office and a school in the community. He remarried in 1920 to Mrs. Cora Waldrop who was my mother's mother. They were married about 25 years. Cora's youngest daughter, Johnnie came for a visit shortly after the marriage and Ben Folley ask her to stay and he would see that he make more than she would teaching. She had grown to love the ranch life and her stepfather and agreed to stay - - for 31 years. She has been nominated to the Cowgirl Hall of Fame in Fort Worth.
