John M. Stephens' bond for $5000; condition being that he has sold to Samuel Patterson of Washington County a tract of land in Montgomery County, half of a quarter of a league situated on Mound Creek and being a part of the Survey of 1/3 league for John M. Stephens, assignee of Alfred Dutcher. The tract contains 555-1/2 acres, more or less.

JOHN BAKER to SAMUEL PATTERSON 
Amount of Bond - $5,000 good and lawful money of the Republic. 
Condition of the obligation: John Baker of Montgomery County entered into following agreement with Samuel Patterson of Washington County. viz: John Baker agrees to sell to Samuel Patterson 1000 acres of land, to be selected by Saml. Patterson, his properly authorized agent, heirs, executors or administrators, from a league of land situated in Montgomery County, Republic of Texas, recently surveyed for Baker by U. F. Case, deputy surveyor for the county, and which Baker claims under the Colonization Laws of Coahuila and Texas. The league is situated 3 miles southwest of ?Groves (?Groees, ?Grows) retreat, bounded on the north by D. P. White's league, on the west by William Beard and Walter E. Baker's land.

Amount $200. James C. Dewitt shall make good, lawful, sufficient title to above parties for a certain tract of land in Montgomery County, Republic of Texas. The land contains 10 acres adjoining the Labor the town of Cincinnati is situated on. If Dewitt shall make a good and lawful title as soon as he obtains a title himself, this obligation shall be null and void. /s/ James C. Dewitt

This is the same land of which James C. Dewitt made a title bond to Francis Heitz and Joseph Buckmeyer dated 4 April 1838. Joseph Buckmeyer sold his part to Francis Heitz on 12 Apr 1838. /s/ F. Heitz

WRIGHT WILLIAMS to J. B. CHANCE 
Indenture between Wright Williams of Washington Co., Republic of Texas and J. B. Chance of Washington Co. Williams executed a certain note to Chance for $87.12 - ½ due 15 days after date, mortgaging a certain brown horse named Brown Jim, age 6 years old, and branded left eye out. Should Williams fail to make payment to Chance at specified time, Chance is authorized to possess the horse and to advertise him at the courthouse in the town of Washington, giving 20 days notice, after which he is to sell him to the highest bidder for cash.

ROBERT RAY to JAMES HOLLAND 
Robert Ray of the Precinct of New Holland, State of Coahuila and Texas binds himself to James Holland of the same place in the amount of $5000 current money of the United States of Mexico. Condition of the obligation is that Robert Ray is to convey to James Hollanda general warranty deed on or before 1 Dec 1839 for a tract of land in the Precinct of New Holland. This tract is ¼ League granted to Robert Ray by the Mexican Government in 1830; it is bounded on the South by the quarter League of James Holland and Ten Mile Creek; on the East by William Holland. /s/ Robert Ray

This tract was a part of Peterson's original Headright as a citizen, and is bounded on the South & West by Robt. Pebles' land; on the North by Henry Fantharp's land; on the East by Westley Fisher's land. The amount of the sale is $800.00. /s/ John Peterson

They are designated as lots #221,#222,#238,#257,#258,#259 in Block 21; #241,#239, #242 in Block 22; #431 in Block 32. This is subject to the following condition: Caleb Tomkins, on 12 May 1838, execute to Weedon and Heard his promissory note for $150, to be paid 10 months from the date; if the note is paid at the time it becomes due, this instrument is null and void.

This is part of the Headright League granted to John Landrum by the Mexican Government as a Colonist, and contains 2214 acres.

Indenture between Henderson C. Hudson of Washington Co. and Niles F. Smith of Harrisburg Co., in consideration of the sum of $1100 for a tract of land in Montgomery Co. The tract is the Southwest quarter of the League granted to Jesse B. McNeily by the Government of Coahuila and Texas as a colonist; by McNeily sold to John Moore and ___ Davis; Davis relinquished his interest by deed to Moore. To further indentify the land, it is the quarter adjoining the quarter of the same League sold by John Moore to Joseph T. Gilbert. The quarter now sold contains 1111 acres.
