Outlaw’s Mother, Mrs. Barrow, Dies Death early Friday ended the tragic life of Mrs. Cumie Barrow, mother of the late Clyde and Buck Barrow, both of whom were killed by peace officers. She had been ill for three or four weeks in her home. In her family of seven children only two Dallas daughters had no police records. Her other three children who are living are in prison, and the eldest of them, Jack Barrow, serving ninety-nine years for murder, will come home for the funeral on a five-day furlough, arranged through Brig. William George Gilks, Dallas member of the Texas Prison Board.
Federal prisons have no means of providing furloughs for the two younger Barrow children, Marie Barrow, in Alderson, W. Va., and L. C. Barrow, in Leavenworth. Both of them had violated provisions of probation given them in previous trials.
She also is survived by her husband, Henry Barrow.
Mrs. Barrow herself was the victim of a murderous assault in which she lost an eye a few years ago when shot by Baldy Watley, now serving time in the Texas prison.
Private funeral services and burial will be held for Mrs. Barrow.
