| ADAMS, William Alice, Texas, Jan. 12.—William Adams, 93, pioneer who organized Jim Wells County and was once one of Texas’ largest cattle shippers, died early Thursday. He came to Corpus Christi in 1854 with his brother Robert. They established a large ranch in 1867 from which great herds of cattle were shipped. William Adams was appointed by the Legislature in 1912 to organize Jim Wells County. He served as Commissioner for six terms in Nueces County, Corpus Christi, and held public offices in Jim Wells also. His survivors include his brother, Robert Adams, Alfred; a sister, Mrs. Mary Ann Hinnant, Lagarto; sons, George Adams, Norwich Adams and Harry Lee Adams, Alice; daughters, Mrs. Floyd Miller, Dallas, and Mrs. Claude McGill, Alice; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Laughlin, rancher, farmer and businessman of Premont, died Sunday morning of a heart attack. He was a pioneer citizen of Jim Wells County and was the first banker in Premont. Premont, Jim Wells Co., Texas (Sp.)—William Oscar Linder, a native of Denton County, died Monday in Premont. Mr. Linder was 75 years old and was married to the former Miss Carrie Hammonds, also a native of Denton County. He had been in the oil business in Denton County and retired to take up farming at the age of 55. He later moved to Cuero, where he lived until he moved to Premont. Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, including Mrs. James J. Teeling of Dallas; two sons and nine grandchildren.
