The 1917 session of the legislature provided for the establishment of the Northwest Texas Insane Asylum and for the establishment of  an Asylum for the Negro Insane at Rush.  b. In local institutions. In counties having almshouses the insane who can not be admitted to the state hospitals may be cared  for in them. The county commissioners have responsibility for such cases and manage the almshouses.

CARLSBAD
State Tuberculosis Sanatorium (July, 1912) For incipient and moderately advanced cases.  Capacity: — 65. Rates: — There are no charges for indigent patients ; for non-indigents : $5.00 per week. Private patients: $10.00 per week. Superintendent: — Dr. J. B. McKnight. Medical Director: — Dr. S. E. Thompson. Application should be made to the Superintendent.

GALVESTON
State Hospital for Crippled and Deformed Children — John Sealy Hospital (March, 1913) :  For medical and surgical tuberculosis cases ; no pulmonary tuberculosis cases received.  Capacity: — 40. Rates: — $1.50 per day when patients are able to pay.  Superintendent: — C. L. Shackford, R. N.   Application should be made to the Superintendent.

BOERNE
St. Mary's Sanitarium (1896) :  Capacity: — 30.

CORSICANA
Physicians and Surgeons Hospital (January, 1915) : For all classes of cases.  Capacity for tuberculous patients: — 36. Rates: — Patients in wards, $10.00 and $15.00 per week. Private rooms, $25.00 per week.  Superintendent: — S. H. Hornbeak.  Application should be made to the Superintendent.

DALLAS
Woodlawn Hospital — City and County Tuberculosis Hospital (1912-13) : For all classes of cases.
Capacity: — 62. Rates: — Charges for non-indigents, $1.00 per day. Charity patients received.
Superintendent: — Mrs. S. R. Minif. Medical Director: — Dr. J. T. Bernard.  Application should be made to the Superintendent.

EL PASO
The Hendricks Sanatorium (January, 1915) : For cases with reasonable chance of recovery.  Capacity: — 50. Rates: — $30.00 to $50.00 per week. Superintendent: — R. D. Harvey. Medical Director: — Dr. C. M. Hendricks. Application should be made to the Superintendent.

The Homan Sanatorium (1907) : For all classes of cases.  Capacity: — 75. Rates: — $25.00 to $35.00 per week. Superintendent and Medical Director: — Dr. Robert B. Homan.  Application should be made to the Superintendent.

EL PASO, TEXAS
El Paso Sanatorium:  Capacity: — 25. Rates: — $12.50 to $22.50 per week, not including medical attention.  Superintendent: — Mrs. P. Z. Langlet.

FT. WORTH
Tuberculosis Cottage, County Farm: Capacity for tuberculosis patients: — 17. Rates: — There are no charges. Only inmates of county farm are admitted.

KINGSVILLE
Kleberg County Hospital (January 1, 1915) : A general hospital with one cottage of three rooms for tuberculous patients. Rates: — $10.50 to $20.00 per week. Superintendent: — Miss Lena C. Snenners, R. N. Application should be made to the Superintendent.

SAN ANGELO
San Angelo Heights Sanatorium (1906) : For all classes of cases. Capacity: — 20. Rates: — $80.00 to $100.00 per month. Medical Superintendent: — Dr. F. B. Magruder.  Application should be made to the Superintendent.

The Sunnycrest Bungalows, Box 267 (August 3, 1908) :  For incipient and moderately advanced cases only.  Capacity: — 20. Rates: — $70.00 per month and upwards.  Medical Director: — Dr. James D. Brooks.  Application should be made to the Medical Director.

SAN ANTONIO
Grace Lutheran Sanatorium (Founded 1907 as San Antonio Tent Colony. Main building erected 1912) :
For all classes of cases.  Capacity: — 36. Rates: — Cottages $17.50 and up per week; rooms, $25.00 and up per week.  Superintendent: — Rev. Paul F. Hein.  Medical Director: — Dr. Theodore Y. Hull. Application should be made to the Superintendent.

Bexar County Tent Colony (1907) :  For cases in the third stage.  Capacity: — 54 (27 bungalows accommodating 2 each). Rates: — There are no charges.  Superintendent and Medical Director: — Dr. D. Berrey, County Health Officer.  Application should be made to the Superintendent.

VON ORMY
Von Ormy Cottage Sanitarium: For all except hopeless last stage cases. Capacity: — 25. Rates: — $15.00 and $18.00 per week.  Medical Director: — Dr. I. S. Kahn.  Application should be made to the Medical Director, 521 Moore Building, San Antonio.
