Daggett County was formed in 1918 and was named for Ellsworth Daggett, the first surveyor-general of Utah.
Its county seat and only municipality is Manila.
There is one other small community, Dutch John, which is unincorporated and was built in the 1950's to facilitate the Flaming Gorge Dam. It was privatized by congressional action in 1998.
Other unincorporated communities were those of Bridgeport, Greendale and Browns Park.
