George Greenville
BURLINGTON, Vt., April 8.—George Greenville Benedict, editor in chief of The Burlington Freo Press, died today at Camden, N. C. Mr. Benedict was born in Burlington Dec. 10, 1826. He was the son of Prof..Georgo W. Benedict, with whom he later became Identified in The Free Press. He was graduated from the Universlty of Vermont In 1847. He served throughout the civil war and received a gold medal from Congress for distinguished conduct at the battle of Gettysburg. He first entered politics In 1869,when he was elected to the State Legislature. He wrote a history of Vermont and the civil war.
