William Shalto Stuart

On Thursday morning, the 6th inst. William Shalto Stuart, Esq. died at Arlington House, the seat of his brother Mr. Custis, and on Saturday following was buried at Ossian Hall. Mr. Stuart was the eldest son of the late Dr. David Stuart. His mind, embellished by the early familiarity with classical learning to which this enlightened guide had introduced him, was strengthened by the habits of curiosity and investigation that characterized his subsequent studies. (long eulogy) In the maturity of manhood he was driven to the grave by a pulmonary disease, of which the appearance was sudden and the progress rapid.......... In the recollection of the virtues which induced this resignation, the numerous and distinguished relatives who survive him any regard his death not as a misfortune....
