Franklin County, Virginia
This county was named after Benjamin Franklin and
formed in 1785, from parts of Bedford and Henry Counties. It was the hom
e of the Confederate General Jubal Anderson Early, and Booker T Washington, the
slave who became one of the main civil rights activists of his era.
