Wound in right breast by frequent of shell in James River. Wound festering constantly and incurable

Thomas James was 22 years of age when he enlisted on the “Agawan Dutch Gap” was given leave of absence & while on shore under leave, was taken sick & unable to return to vessel. During his sickness the vessel was ordered to Port Lassidril & the crew mustered out of service,. This accounts for his not having a regular discharge.
