welcome to the Genealogy Trails website for Henry County, Virginia. Our
goal is to help you track your ancestors through time by transcribing
genealogical and historical data and placing it online for the free use
of all researchers.
This is a continuation of our original, and highly successful,
Genealogy Trails Illinois History and Genealogy Project and we are
excited about this opportunity to expand into other states. We welcome
your feedback and comments, and of course, your data contributions. If
you have data that you would like to have posted on this website,
please contact me.

A LITTLE HISTORY ON HENRY COUNTY VA
Taken from Pittsylvania County, Henry County was established in
1777. Originally the name for the county was Patrick Henry
County, to honor the first governor of Virginia after
Independence. Part of Bedford County and the northern part of
Patrick Henry County were combined to form Franklin County.
Patrick Henry County, in 1790, was divided into two counties. The
western part became Patrick County and the remaining became Henry
County.
