If you have questions regarding one (or more) of your Virginia ancestors, you can email them to me by clicking HERE
and I will post them on this page for our hundreds of guests to view,
Someone just might have the answer that has been eluding you. This
service has worked out very well on some of our other websites and now
we are offering it to our visitors who have Virginia ancestors.
Your email
address will be posted along with your query so that you can be
contacted directly, or they can email me and I will contact you as well
as posting the data here for others to see. If you would rather that
your email address not be posted, please let me know in your initial
letter and I will act as the go-between to assure your privacy.
Also
posted here will be offers of assistance with different family names.
If you have your family tree pretty much filled in, you might be
interested in sharing and helping someone who is researching the same
surname. Space doesn't allow for us to post extensive family trees on
our websites, so this will be a way of getting around that. I have said
for the past almost 50 years that the best part of doing genealogy is
sharing your data with others... Just click on the person's name to email them.

William Kelly/Kelley
My brick
wall is William Kelly/Kelley. The story goes that William came here
from Ireland landed in Pa married a German girl whose name was Mary or
Martha.
- Facts:
William had at least two children William J and Abel W Kelley. William
was born 1779 and Abel 1787. Both boys went to Randolph county Va/ Wv
where they married the daughters of Jacob Kittle, Gean was married to
William and Jemima married Abel W Kelley.
I have
been able to trace these families forward but have been unable to find
any facts about the senior William. I would really appreciate any help
I could get.
Thank you very much the 5X grandson of William Kelley, Ray Harlow - Elida, Ohio

John Cummins
I have
hit a brick wall in the husband of Judith Warwick. He was John Cummins,
MD. He and Judith were married probably about 1804 because their first
child was born in 1805.
They were married in LaTrobe, Pa.
Their
children were Richard Simpson, b. 1804, Frederick Patterson, b. 1814,
and Elizabeth. I would really love to find out who his parents were and
where they came from.

Turner/Graves
I am
working to make the link between two generations in my family. I need
an official document that shows that Sarah H. Turner is William
Turner's daughter.
William
Turner was born 11 Feb 1756 in England. He married Elizabeth Thurmond.
They had 9 children: Fannie (Fanny), Randolph, Bettie, William Cluny,
Jr., Sarah (Sallie) H. (my Great Great Great Grandmother), Talton,
Mariah (Maria), Alexander and Samuel. He died in Todd County Kentucky
while living with his daughter Mariah Turner Martin and her family.
William Turner enlisted in the spring of 1776 in the company of Captain
Francis Taylor of the Second Virginia Regiment. He served 4 years.
Following the war he settled in Albemarle County, Virginia (about
1782). He lived in Virginia until about 1834 when he was found living
in Todd County, Kentucky living with daughter Mariah and son-in-law
Pleasant Martin. Family history shows that William was a Methodist
Minister, however, I do not know if he was ordained. I found a copy of
his will, however, the will lists only one son and a daughter, Mariah
Martin, and her family and Samuel Turner.
Sarah H.
Turner was born 15 Jan 1794 in Albemarle County, Virginia. She married
William Lynch Graves 5 May 1811. They had 14 children: Hudson, Talrton,
Andrew, Mary Ann, Peyton, John Madison, Mariah (Maria) My Great Great
Grandmother--married to John Washington Spears, James, Sarah, William
Lynch, Jr., William Alexander, Sarah Ann, Noamie Jane, and James
Madison. Sarah died July 1878. She is buried along side William Lynch
Graves in the Graves family cemetery in Madison County, Tennessee.
Any
information about the Turner and the Graves family is sincerely
appreciated. I have documents from Sarah and William Lynch to the
present generation in my family line and am happy to share copies of
those documents with kin.

Russell/Mitchell
I am trying to find my gggrt grandmother`s birth place and parents
and siblings.
Here is what I have:
Mazilla Russell b. abt oct 1825 ,I came to the month conclusion by
her ages from 1850-1880 census for W.Va1850-1860 and in IL 1870-1880
she was born in Va according to all the census was done with her and
her fam. She was married in Athens co. Ohio in Rome twp. dec.26,1845
to Cyrus Mitchell where he was born and raised and his father Joseph
Mitchell and his sons James, John and Cyrus owned and ran a lumber
mill.
Cyrus and Mazilla had 4 children in Ohio and then they were in
Wood co.WVa by jan where my ggrt grandfather Geo.Washington Mitchell
was born jan 22,1863,Parkersburg WV(Va) then later they moved down to
JAckson co. WVa. and their dau Rosella died giving birth and is
buried in the Sandy ?? cemt [ed. Prob. Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery]. They lived there untill late 1869 or
early 1870 then to Crawford co.IL Oblong twp.
they were in the county
record book for Oblong. She lived there untill she died between 1885
and 1890. suppose to be buried in the Oblong cemt. where her children
and grand children and neice are buried. But she isn`t on the list or
in the death book.So I dont know when she died. Her husb. was living
with Geo and wife Mary Frances(Fanny Russell)??connections) and he
lived with them untill 1903 in Richland co.IL in Olney twp.
then they
moved toColes co.in Mattoon twp, where Cyrus died in aug. 1906 and
buried in Mattoon also in the Dodge Grove cemt. Nothing was mentioned
of her in the papers in his obits.
So this is what I have of Mazilla (Russell) Mitchell.
