  I, Claire Willard Armstrong, a native and loyal citizen of the United States, hereby apply to the Department of State, at Washington for a passport.
  I solemnly swear that I was born at Grant City, Worth County, in the state of Missouri, on or about the 23? day of May, 1903, that my father L.T. Armstrong, was born in Wheeling, Missouri, and is now residing at Wenatchee, Chelan county, Washington.....my permanent residence being at Wenatchee in the State of Washington, where I follow the occupation of Rancher....I intend to return to the United States within 6 months....I desire a passport for use in visiting the countries hereinafter named for the following purpose: Japan & China for Travel. I intend to leave the United States from the port of Seattle Washington sailing on board the Iyo Maru(?) on November 27, 1924.....Claire Willard Armstrong, Sept. 27, 1924.

Dear Sirs-I received your memorandum and a copy of the letter sent to Claire Willard Armstrong.
 Will say that Claire is my son, and that I an handing you herewith an affidavit of his birth, signed by his mother and myself, (his father) in lieu of a birth certificate. To the best of my belief and recolection no birth record was kept at that time in Worth County Missouri. Hoping this will be satisfactory, I am Yours very truly, L.T. Armstrong, Clerk of Superior Court.

 L.T. Armstrong and Maud M. Armstrong, husband and wife, residing at Wenatchee, Chelan County, Washington, each being duly sworn, on oath say: That I, L.T. Armstrong, is the father of I, Maud M. Armstrong, is the mother of Claire Williard Armstrong residing with us at 516 First Street in the City of Wenatchee, Chelan County, Washington; that said Claire Williard Armstrong was born to us on the 28th day of May, 1903, at Grant city, Worth County, Missouri; that to the best of our knowledge and belief no birth record was kept at the time of the birth of  said Claire Williard Armstrong in Worth County, Missouri.  May 19, 1924

  I solemnly swear that I was born at Bloomfield, in the State of Iowa, on or about the 15th, day of March, 1871, that my father William Emerson, was born in Indiana, USA and is now dead, my mother Carrie Townsend, resides at Chelan, Washington....and that I am domiciled in the United States, my permanent residence being at Chelan in the State of Washington, where I follow the occupation of Lawyer...I am about to go abroad temporarily; and I intend to return to the United States within two years....I desire a passport for use in visiting the countries hereinafter named for the following purpose:

  I, Carrie Townsend, being first duly sworn, on oath deposes and says: That I am 67 years old, and was born in Pennsylvania, USA and that I am the Mother of William Mack Emerson, and he was born at Blownfield, Iowa, on March 15, 1871. This affidavit is made for the purpose of securing a passport for the said William Mack Emerson, who has enlisted for YMCA work in France.

Sirs, This is to certify that William M. Emerson has been appointed a Secretary of the National War Work Council of the YMCA of the united States for Service with the troops of the American Expeditionary Force in France. We hereby endorse his application for a passport to visit France and Great Britain. Mr. Emerson is under contract with us for two years.

  I solemnly swear that I was born at Pittburgh, in the State of New Hampshire on August 13, 1886, that my father Albert Edward heath, was born in the United States and is now residing at deceased,...........that I am the bearer of Passport No. 66.202, issued by the Department of State on July 18, 1921; that my legal domicile is in the United States of America, my permanent residence being at Lakeside Chelan County Washington; that in the United States I followed the occupation of carpenter and last left the United States in July 1921 arriving at Coblenz, Germany, in August 1921, where I am now residing for the purpose of civilian employee on behalf of the Department of Agriculture of Washington at Coblenz, Germany; and that I have resided outside the United States at the following places for the following periods: France & Germany (Mil. Service)-November 1917 to June 1921.
Germany (civilian) from July 1921-date and that I desire to remain a citizen of the United States and intend to return thereto permanently to reside and perform the duties of citizenship within two years or when duties here end.
 I have not applied elsewhere for a United States passport or for consular registration and had been refused. I desire a passport for use in visiting the countries hereinafter named for the following purpose: Germany-Temp. residence; British Isles, France, Belgium-En route to the United States.
