I am a temporary host for this county but will be adding information when I can. Our goal is to offer as much FREE historical and genealogical information online as we can, so what this page really needs is a host of its own. To learn what it involves to become a host please click here

If you have any questions, comments or contributions please email me through the main page. Thank you and good luck in your search!

Its name reflects the fact that it consists of two large islands, Whidbey and Camano, and seven smaller islands (Baby, Ben Ure, Deception, Kalamut, Minor, Smith, and Strawberry.) Island County was created out of Thurston County on January 6, 1853, by the legislature of Oregon Territory,  and is the 8th oldest county in Washington. It originally encompassed what are now Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom County, and San Juan Counties.  Wikipedia
