Selma Stenehjem Arstein
Selma Arstein, 97, of Everett, Washington, died January 22, 2008. She was born into a large and loving family of nine children on May 10, 1910, in Williston,
North Dakota. She began her teaching career in a one room school house in North Dakota and later taught at Roosevelt and Jackson Elementary Schools in Everett.
For over 50 years, she was an active member of Central Lutheran Church where she and Al formed many lifelong friendships. She was a wonderful hostess and could
always find room for one more at the table. Sal enjoyed travel, camping trips, craftwork, making cookies (especially for her four grandsons), card games, and
time with her family. Her special ministry was visiting the elderly, and she was a great example of Christian love.  She was preceded in death by Al, her husband of 62 years; and son, Richard. She is survived by her son, Dr. Don Arstein and Tena, of Camarillo, CA; daughter, Lianne and Duane Pearson, of Mukilteo; four grandsons, Tad and Kathy
Arstein, Shawn and Amy Arstein, Kent and Michelle Pearson, Kurt and Connie Pearson; and by 11 beloved great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, January 30, at Central Lutheran Church.  Memorials may be made to Central Lutheran Church.

William Clarence Dietrich, Sr.
William C. Dietrich, Sr., 74, of Everett, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2008, due to complications from heart disease. The son of Clarence and Ethel
Dietrich, he was born in Seattle, June of 1932.  Bill spent his childhood years in Ballard and Spokane, WA. As a young man he joined the Army, serving in the Korean War and later the National Guard.  Ultimately, he retired from Scott Paper at the age of 58. He had a deep love of his country and was a true patriot. Bill was passionate about flying and
sailing, having spent many hours meticulously constructing model boats and airplanes. He is remembered by his family as a highly skilled craftsman, an avid
reader and fan of classical music. He loved a good practical joke, and carried this sense of humor with him throughout his life.  Bill is preceded in death by his daughter, Patti and her husband, Jess.  He is survived by his long-time companion and former wife, Juanita, who always held a special place in his heart, as well as by 6 children and their families,
Kay, Lyle and Terri, Jerry and Jan, Bill and Tiffany, Connie and Mike, Fred and Dawn; including 22 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Bill was loved
dearly and will be missed by many.
At William's request, there will be no funeral service.
In celebration of his life, there will be a gathering of family and friends to be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 27, 2008, at the home of his son, Bill.

Cecile Eugenie Eberle
Cecile Eugenie Eberle, 87, had been a resident of Everett, WA, for the past 70 Years. She was called home by her Lord, on January 24, 2008, while in the
company of her family. She was born in Keewatin, Ontario, Canada, on August 19, 1920, to Eva Rochon and Archie Clement.  She came to the United States in 1921 and settled originally in Sedro Woolley, WA. She then moved to Everett in 1930's, where she graduated from Everett High School in 1940. Her first job after graduation was at Kress's department store, which she loved and spoke about often. After her children were grown she also was employed by the Snohomish County Courthouse. On January 30, 1941, she married Mike Eberle, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Mike was working at the Rotary Bakery in Everett at the time. He also served with the Seabees during World War II, and worked 25 years for the Everett Fire Department.  The heart and soul of Mom's life were her family; her husband; six children; 13 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She loved to cook, sew, work in her yard, ceramics, travel, swim, play bingo, and helping at her Church of Immaculate Conception.
She is survived by daughter, Suzanne Gaffney (Tom), of Everett; sons, Richard (Lois), of Chehalis, WA; Michael (Donna), of Arlington, WA; and Mark (Candice),
of Medford, Oregon; and son-in-law, Clint Hall, of Tulalip, WA.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike, on April 28, 2001; an infant
son, Daniel; daughter, Michele Hall; her parents, and four sisters.  Mom was always quick to give a smile, a hug and a kind word. She was always
willing to serve and provide good counsel when needed. She supported her family in life, and will continue to do so in death. She was a strong role model for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by many, but her life lives on in each of us as an example of selfless giving.
A celebration of her life in conjunction with a short Scripture service and a chance to share memories of her great life, will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday,
January 30, 2008, at Purdy & Walters with Cassidy.  Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, January 31, 2008, at Our
Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 2619 Cedar Street, Everett.  Private Family Graveside will be held at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorials be made to: Providence Hospice of Snohomish County, 2731 Wetmore, Everett, Wa 98201, or Immaculate Conception Church, 2501
Hoyt, Everett, WA 98201.
The Family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Everett Rehab and Care Center, for the exceptional care Cecile received for the past three years.

Mark Andrew Galloway
Mark Andrew Galloway was born on October 15, 1987, in Edmonds, WA, and died on January 20, 2008, in Monroe, WA, at the age of 20. Mark was tragically and
suddenly taken from our lives. He brought joy and sunshine to everyone he met with his big smile and awesome sense of humor.
Mark graduated in 2006 from Monroe High School and Sno-Isle Auto Technician Training Program where he was student of the year and a member of the National
Technical Vocational Honor Society. He was scheduled to graduate from Shoreline Community College in August with an Associate of Arts degree from Automotive
Technology GM-ASEP Program. Mark was currently working at Speedway Chevrolet in Monroe as a Service Technician and Performance Consultant.
His passion for cars also took him to Evergreen Speedway with RH Motorsports where he became Crew Chief and this led to his role as Technical Inspector for
the Super Stock Class. Mark & his sister Krissy trained together in Tae Kwon Do and both earned their Black Belt. Mark's family is also active in the Indian
Education Program and are members of the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. Mark is survived by his parents, Greg and Elaine; sister, "Krissy" Kristin;
grandparents, Don and Violeta; grandmother, Jackie; uncles, Scott and Matt; aunts, Gail, Susan and Penny; cousins, Chloe, Casey, Miranda, Isabel, and "Gabe"
Gabriel; plus numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and too many friends to list. Mark will live in the hearts of all those who knew him forever. Mark will be
forever young, forever missed and forever loved. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, money be donated to a scholarship fund that has been set up in Mark's name. The scholarship will be awarded to students wanting to follow in Mark's footsteps.  Monroe Public Schools Foundation, Mark Galloway Scholarship Fund, In Care of

Evergreen Speedway to celebrate the life of a young man who loved life, cars, his friends and family.

Gordon Eugene Hartley
July 20, 1935 - Jan. 22, 2008
Gordon E. Hartley, 72, passed away on January 22, 2008, after a short and valiant struggle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Gordon was born July 20, 1935, to
Clifford and Daisy Hartley, in Cosmopolis, Washington. Gordon was raised in Montesano, Washington, graduating from Montesano High
School in 1953. He then served his country in Germany as a high speed radio operator during the Korean conflict. In 1957, he received an Associate Degree
from Gray's Harbor Community College, where he was a member of the football team. He continued his education at Washington State University, receiving a
Bachelor's degree in 1959, a Master's degree in a 1962, and a Doctorate in Education in 1974. Licensed as a clinical psychologist, Gordon spent his professional career in school counseling working as a school psychologist for brief periods in the Moses Lake, Ephrata, and Shoreline Public School districts. He spent 26 years at Shoreline Community College as a Counselor, serving as Director of Counseling from 1968 - 1980.  Gordon concluded his career as an Adjunct Counselor in the Desert Community College District, working at both the Yucca Valley and the Palm Desert campus.  He was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Community College Scholastic Honorary Society, the Pi Kappa Phi National Honorary Society, the Phi Delta Kappa National Education Fraternity, the Psi Chi the National Honorary Society in Psychology, AARP, and the American Legion.
Gordon married Celia Love Dosser in 1972; they made their home in Edmonds, Washington for 27 years. They moved to La Quinta, California in 1992, to assume
professional responsibilities at College of the Desert. On retirement in 1999, the Hartleys returned to the Northwest and built their current home on Camano
Island. In addition to Celia, he leaves behind a stepdaughter, Lisa Napolitano; stepdaughter, Laurie (Dennis) Draper; son, Bryan (Frosti) Hartley; step-son,
Byron Dosser; and daughter, Amy (Troy) Good.  A host of adoring grandchildren filled his life with joy. Gordy was preceded in
death by his parents, and his only brother, Dennis. This loss was supplanted by loving brothers- and sisters-in-law; caring nieces and nephews; grandnieces and
grandnephews; and kind colleagues, neighbors, and friends.  Known lovingly as Gordy to his family and close friends, he spent hours reading,
tremendously enjoyed travel, and could not wait for crabbing season to open each year, when he would prevail upon neighbors for a boat trip out into Saratoga
Passage to "drop his pot." Football was his passion and he avidly followed "the Cougs," complaining loudly when he believed "prevent defense" threatened their
victory. His good humor, caring attitude, love of children, and belief in being a good neighbor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Services to honor his memory and celebrate his life will be held at 1 p.m., February 2, 2008, at the Camano Senior and Community Center, 606 Arrowhead Road,
Camano Island, Washington. Remembrances in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, or to a favored charity.

Marilyn "Lynne" Irwin
June 27, 1922-Jan. 24, 2008
Marilyn "Lynne" Irwin born June 27, 1922 in Minneapolis, Kansas; moved to Washington State at age three. She lived in Bellingham, WA until she graduated
from Western Washington College in 1942. Marilyn was a member of the Maple Leaf Chapter of Eastern Star in Bellingham for over 50 years.
After teaching for five years in Seattle and Shoreline school districts, she became part owner of Sprague Spray and Regional Chemicals Inc. Lynne was
secretary of the Ground Sprayer Association for many years. She assembled the people and put together three Seafair award winning floats.
After being the president of the North City Community Club Association and the North Suburbia Credit Women's Association she moved on to a new career in the
construction business where she was a construction coordinator. Finally she owned her own construction subcontracting firm for electrical, plumbing, and
drywall, until the Boeing crash in 1970, (Remember the sign, "Will the last one out of Seattle, Please turn off the light?") Lynne was always a sports girl; a very good tennis, baseball player and bowler, she loved to watch golf and football on TV.  She was a proud mother of three children, Steve, Debra, and Lance; and loving
wife to Jack for 42 years. She leaves four grandchildren, Tom and Tim Irwin, and Tony and Shaunda Gillette; and Tim gave her a great-grandson, Andrew.
There are no services scheduled, and the family requests no flowers. In the summer of 2008 there will be a family and friend gathering for Lynne at her home.

Charles Michael "Mike" Mardesich

Charles Michael "Mike" Mardesich, 62, former resident of Everett, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Los Gatos, California, on January 21, 2008. Mike was born in Everett on August 25, 1945, to John and Vera Mardesich.
He graduated from Moses Lake High School (Washington) in 1963, and went on to graduate from San Francisco State University. Mike was an avid golfer, loved the sunshine, riding his Harley and traveling. He spent most of his career as a computer programmer and IT manager. Mike will be remembered by those who loved him for his independent spirit, great sense of humor and love for his family. He will be missed terribly.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Andrea Mardesich Guizani (Farid); his long-time companion, Diane Beach; former wife and dear friend, Barbara Locatelli; sister, Toni James (Bob), of Everett; brother, John Mardesich (Evette), of Seattle, WA; sister, George Ann Gibson, of Everett; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Joan.
A memorial will be held in California.
Remembrances may be made to Children's Hospital in Seattle, or to a charity of your choice.

David L. Matulewicz

David L. Matulewicz, 36, of Arlington, WA, passed away January 11, 2008.  He was born January 18, 1971, in Walnut Creek, California, the son of Frank and Sheryl Matulewicz and live in Alturas, CA.  Dave married Darcia L. Hurst June 21, 2003.

He worked for Precision Engine for many years and at AMT in Arlington for a time.  Dave enjoyed yard work, woodworking, traveling, camping, collecting things, river rafting and hanging out at the river on his property.  Dave loved to make people laugh.  He especially like playing tricks and surprising people.  He was kind, thoughtful, giving and loved life.

Our home will never be the same without my pumpkin.  You will be deeply missed by your family, friends and all your animals, especially your dog, Misty.

Dave is survived by his wife, Darcia; son, Dylan Matulewicz; his partents, Frank and Sheryl Matulewicz; father and mother-in-law, Ivan and Joetta Hurst; sisters-in-law, Breena and Jetta Hurst; two nieces, Chantel and Chandra; nephew, Titus; and a sister, Jennifer (Ben) Potap.

A private family service was held.

Memorials are suggested to Snohomish County Hospice, north team.  Arrangements are under the care of Solie Funeral Home and Crematory.

Zonya "Hemrich" Melseth

Zonya "Hemrich" Melseth, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on January 21, 2008, from complications associated with Alzheimers disease. She was born on June 13, 1935.
Zonya grew up in Magnolia, WA, and attended Queen Anne High School. She later attended the University of Washington and became a member of the Children's Hospital Guild. She was married to Marvin Jerry Melseth in 1959, and lived her later years in Lynnwood, WA. Zonya worked in the medical field for 30+ years and finished our her career as a member of the board of trustees at Stevens Memorial Hospital. Zonya loved painting, camping, salmon fishing, bridge, gardening, and traveling. She especially loved her family and many friends.
Zonya is survived by her husband, Jerry; son, John (Sharon); twin sister, Zarya; and two beautiful granddaughters.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Stevens Foundation, 21601 - 76th Avenue West, Edmonds, WA 98026.
