Notes: This Indenture was placed as an insert into the District of Columbia Apprentice Indenture record book, volume 1. This indenture is unique since it appears to have been written by Eleanor Franklin wherein she gives very specific information regarding her husband's absence and the date and place of birth of her son Henry William Frankland. Henry William Frankland completed his apprenticeship and is listed as "sail maker, east side 7 e btw Virginia Ave and I street near the Navy Yard" in The Washington Directory of 1822 compiled by Judah Delano printed by William Duncan Washington DC Henry William Frankland is also listed in the 1827 edition of The Washington Directory complied and published by S.A. Elliot at the same address |
