Note: There are presently 33 townships in Clark County.
Thirty-two townships are of standard size each  covering six square miles.
The Township of Foster includes two 6 square mile areas.

The township of Beaver was created by an order of the county board on November 15, 1870 and
the first town meeting was held in April of 1871.  Beaver was named for the large number of beaver dams in the township.  There was at one time a highway in the town known as Beaver Dam Road.  Rock Creek, once hosting flood dams to aid in logging, flows through the southern part of the township and unites with the Black River.  In 1874, Beaver was left with its boundaries of today.
