Florence Kilty (24 Nov. 1891 – 18 Apr. 1952)

* Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church for Mrs. Wm. Kilty, 60, who passed away at her home last week Thursday.

The Rev. Charles Witt officiated at the services and burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery.

The body reposed at the Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby, until time of services.

Mrs. Kilty, the former Florence Matson, was born November 24, 1891, in Calumet, Mich. She came to Unity in 1907 and resided on a farm. Since her marriage March 12, 1912, to Wm. Kilty, in Colby, they had resided on a farm west of Unity.

She is survived by her husband; eight sons, Melvin, Edgar; Lyle, Colby; Robert, Mayville; and Glenn, Donald, Marvin, Vern and Kenneth, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Henry (Loraine) Gottschalk, Unity; 17 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. F. Ewald and Mrs. John Victorson, Detroit; and Mrs. Emil Johnson, Unity; and two brothers, Ed Matson, Detroit; and Albert Matson, Unity.

A daughter preceded her in death.

We in this community are mourning the passing of a wonderful mother and neighbor, Mrs. Wm. Kilty, 60, who passed away last week Thursday.

Also in memory of our dear mother, Mrs. Edw. Morgan, who passed away in 1912 and Mrs. Edw Morgan who passed away in 1926.

At the funeral the choir sang “Rock of Ages” and “Beyond the Sunset.”

Pallbearers were Otto Atcherson, Leo Duvall, Clarence and Art Edblom, Maynard Yahr, and John Schaller.

Flowers were carried by Mrs. Otto Atcherson, Mrs. Leo Duvall, Mrs. Maynard Yahr and Mrs. John Schaller.

Out of town people in attendance at the funeral were Mrs. Ferd Ewald, Ed Matson, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pervsn and daughter of Detroit; Mrs. Clara Swedman and son, James and Mr. Lawrence Israelson of Mellen; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kilty, Mayville; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kilty, Edgar; and Mr. and Mrs. John Kilty, Loyal.

Helen Kilty (5 Dec. 1935 – 13 Sept. 1991)

* Colby – Helen Kilty, 55, Unity, died at 4:50 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice Care Unit, Marshfield.

Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rux Funeral Home, Colby, with the Rev. Kenneth A. Dix of the First United Church of Christ, Colby, officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Unity.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

She was born Dec. 5, 1935, the daughter of Walter and Edna Redig Sr., Marshfield. She attended Marshfield area schools. She was married to Kenneth Kilty Sr. March 5, 1955, in Marshfield.

She was a housewife and farmed with her husband.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband; one son, Kenneth Jr. of Marshfield; three sisters, Mrs. Robert (Audrey) Maske of Adell, Darla Meddaugh of Marshfield and Carol Sterzinger of Auburndale; four brothers, Walter Redig Jr., of Port Washington, Robert and Dennis Redig, both of Marshfield, and Richard Redig of Neillsville; and two grandchildren.


Myrtle Kilty (5 Aug. 1915 – 30 May 1931)

* Myrtle Kilty, age sixteen, of Unity, died at the Medford clinic Saturday evening as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Highway 64, west of Medford, Friday while returning from a school picnic at Lake Esadore. Her brother, Melvin Kilty, who graduated from the Unity High School last Thursday and who was driving the car when it hit a culvert as a result of being crowded too far to the side of the road by another car, escaped minor injuries. It is reported that he was driving at a high rate of speed. Miss Mayme Bondow of Colby was also riding in the Kilty car and also escaped with minor bruises. Other occupants in the car were Miss Schulte and Mr. Kuehling. The three injured were immediately taken to the Medford clinic for treatment.

Miss Kilty received a deep laceration on her leg which became infected with gas baccilus causing her death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Lutheran church at Unity, Rev. Olson officiating, and internment was made in the Unity cemetery.
