KNOW ALL MEN BY THOSE PRESENTS THAT I, JOHN JOHNSON OF THE COUNTY OF GRANT AND TERRITORY OF WISCONSIN FOR AND IN CONSIDERATIONS OF ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS TO ME IN HAND PAID BY AMOS CHAMBERLAIN A MAN OF COLOR OF THE COUNTY AND TERRITORY AFORESAID, AS WELL IN CONSIDERATION OF SERVICES FOR A LONG TIME TENDERED TO ME, THE SAID JOHN JOHNSON BY SAID AMOS CHAMBERLAIN, THE RECEIPT OF WHICH CONSIDERATION AND HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGED, DO HEREBY RELEASE REMISE AND FOREVER QUIT ALL THE RIGHT, TITLE AND INTEREST WHICH I HAVE OR EVER HAD IN AND TO THE SERVICES OF THE SAID AMOS, AND I DO HEREBY SET FREE THE SAID AMOS TO ALL INTERESTS AND PURPOSES, HEREBY COVENANTING FOR MYSELF MY HEIRS, EXECUTORS AND ADMINISTRATES THAT I WILL DEFEND THE SAID AMOS AGAINST ALL CLAIMS PERSONS WHOMSOEVER CLAIMING HIM OR HIS SERVICES BY THEM OR UNDER ME.
