VIOLENT DEATHS IN JEFFERSON COUNTY, 1924

This information is taken from the Janesville Gazette Jan. 10-11, 1925
and lists the deaths of Jefferson County folks that did not die of
natural causes. there were 24 deaths from violence and is a record for
Jefferson County, twice the number reported for 1923. Automobiles took
the most lives of any, causing sudden death-six. 6 took their own
lives, 2 were killed by falls; 2 by falling trees, 1 by a sleigh and 1
by a horse. One man was suffocated, 3 were drowned and another died
from the effects of moonshine that caused heart disease.
The deaths were as follows:
Jan. 29- Herman Loga, 47, Koshkonong, killed by a falling tree
Feb. 11- Herbert Bom, 12, Watertown, killed by sleigh while skiing
Feb. 17- Leo w. Jurick, 47, Watertown, heart failure caused by moonshine whiskey
March 4- John Eslien, 33, Oakland, killed by falling tree
March 27- Clara Savall, 57, Fort Atkinson, suicide by hanging
April 5- William J. Bullinan, 60, Cold Spring, fall from wagon
June 5- Fred Klettke, 31, Koshkonong, suicide by hanging
June 12- George Hermann, 49, Waterloo, suicide by shotgun
July 6- John Imig, 43, Delavan, suffication, Palmyra Jail
July 9- Edna Frydenlund, 85, Sumner, Drowned at Sumner
July 12- Arthur Raatz, 8, Watertown, fell against edge of porch
July 28- Arthur H. Leonardson, 62, Waterloo, suicide by bullet
Jult 28- Dexter Smith, 4, Lake Mills, killed by automobile
Julu 30- A. J. Kirson, 2, Waterloo, drowned in water tank
Aug. 12- Max Wittke, 49, Watertown, killed in auto accident
Aug. 25- Hans A. Anderson, 37, Janesville, killed when struck by car driven by Charles Monohan, Janesville
Sept. 1- Joseph Pabelka, 50, Watertown, drowned, suicide
Sept. 5- William F. Langholff, 16, Hebron, kicked by horse
Sept. 24- Mrs. Helen Zimmer, 53, Ixonia, drowning
Oct. 12- Mrs. Ira Adsit, 27, Palmyra, suicide by poison
Nov. 1- Anna Dietrich, 50, Waterloo, killed in auto accident
Nov. 21- Richard Schauer, 51, Johnson Creek, fatally injured in auto accident
Dec. 1- Bud Archie, 23, Waterloo, killed in auto accident near Jefferson
