MARSHFIELD 
Wood County, Wisconsin

Named for J.J. Marsh of New York, who owned the greater part of the town. Another authority attributes the name to large areas of marshy land in the vicinity, suggested by the unusually large marsh tracts covering the township. [Source: Wisconsin Motorist, January 1914, p. 77]
