Ferrell, Mary (Emily)
AT REST
(Copy of newspaper clipping- undated, unnamed)
     Mrs. Mary (Emily) Ferrell died at 5 A.M. Sunday morning, November 5, 1911, at the Stump Hotel in Glenville.
     Her maiden name was Mary Knight. She was born November 2, 1819, in what was then Green County, PA., but now Monongalia County, W. Va.  At the time of her death, she was 92 years and 3 days old.
     At the age of 20 she was married to Thornton Fleming Ferrell, who was four years older than herself.  He died January 11, 1893.   They moved to Calhoun County about 56 years ago and resided there until the death of Mr. Ferrell. For about 8 years, Mrs. Ferrell had lived with her daughter, Mrs. C. P. Stump.

     In her early years Mrs. Ferrell had been a member of the Methodist Church,but about 4 years ago she united with the Spruce Hollow Baptist Church in Calhoun County, then under the pastorate of Rev. John Bennett.
     She leaves six surviving children: Thomas K. Springfield, Mo.; French , Roxbury, O.;  L. E., Prosperity, Mo.; Mrs. C. P. Stump, Glenville, W. Va.; Mrs. Dorcas Walker, Topeka, Kansas, and W. S. Ferrell, Richwood, W. Va.
     At the time of her death, her grandchildren numbered 50 and her great grandchildren 41.
     She was buried Monday by undertaker Mahone at Norman Ridge Cemetery in Calhoun County.  Rev. D. M. Conley, of the Baptist Church, conducted religious services.
     A good woman is gone. She rests from her labors and works do follow her.
     Notes: Mary most likely was born in Monongalia County, (W)V as that is where her father appears in census records.  Part of Monongalia County was incorporated into Greene County, PA, in 1796.
     Mary is buried in Hunt Cemetery which is on Norman Ridge. (Submitted by Linn Ferrell Baiker)

Huffman, Johhny
Editors of the Register
      Drowned, in the Little Kanawha river, Calhoun County, W. V., April 5, 1874, a little son of Absalom and Edith Huffman, aged a little over three years.
      The sketch of his memoir was a bright-eyed and lovely boy. His loss is deeply mourned by his parents and all that knew him. A short time before his death he sang,
      "Christ is our Captain,
      he will lead us safely to rest on Canan's shore."
Christ has lead him there to rest with his three little sisters that had gone before. When we look at those four little graves it reminds us that they are four little angles in Heaven. My God comfort the bereft family; may they all meet around the throne, where they will never be separated.

TO THE PARENTS OF LITTLE JOHHNY
The little feet that followed them,
That voice that such music gave;
The little hands and cheeks thou has so often pressed,
Lie silent in the grave.

They'll never toil through weary years,
Nor breath for anguish free;
They'll never shed those bitter tears,
That grief has rung from thee.

His blessed spirit has flown away,
Too pure to linger here;
A little longer you must stay,
And then you'll meet him there.

Among the saints in paradise,
His shining formust dwell,
And calmly wait the appointed hour,
'Till you shall meet him there.

By His Grandfather.  [Wheeling Register (Wheeling, WV), Volume 12, Issue 104, Page 3, August 3, 1874]
