Hon. Stephen B. Elkins died at twelve o’clock Wednesday night, January 4,1911, while a member of the United States Senate; and on the 9th ensuing. Governor Glasscock appointed his son, Davis Elkins, to fill the vacancy; and he served until the 2nd of February following, when he was succeeded by Clarence W. Watson.
