Tyler County Marriages - 1895

Correspondence Leads to Marriage.
Young Couple Who Had Never Met Before are Wedded at Sistersville.
Sistersville, W. Va., Jan. 20.--Special Telegram.--
The principals in a wedding which was solemnized here last night were William Bryant, of Wyoming and Miss Jane McCoy, of this city. Each is 23 years old, and they never met before yesterday, when Mr. Bryant arrived in this city. The young people were introduced by mutual friends by mail, three years ago, as persons who would likely find correspondence agreeable. They kept the correspondence up, exchanged photographs, became engaged and fixed the wedding day without having ever seen each other. Tomorrow they start for Mr. Bryant's Western home.

A wedding, the like of which has not occurred in this vicinity, will take place Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock at the residence of the officiating minister. The contracting parties are Misses Effie and Ella Way, the charming daughters of ex-Sheriff Way, and Messrs. H. A . Kelly and J. R. Carroll respectively. The news of the approaching nuptials of these popular young people will be quite a surprise to their many friends. The weddings, which will be very quiet affairs, will be witnessed by only a select few of the friends of the young people. After the marriage the wedding parties will return here and leave on Wednesday for an extended tour, which will include a trip over the lakes of Niagara Falls and other easter cities. On their return here they will go to housekeeping at once in a house the grroms have already furnished. They have the best wishes of a host of friends for their future happiness.
