WARD, Alice died on Thursday morning August 10, at 7 o'clock at her home on J Street. She had been feeling very well for several weeks and had gone to the picture show the night before and later had gone to the home of her son James. She seemed to be in good spirits, no one dreamed that in the morning her voice would be stilled. She had been quite ill during the winter with lung trouble which was indirectly the cause of her death. Deceased was born at Bedford Lee Lancashire, England and was 69 years of age. She came to this country in 1881 and located at Alpine, Utah coming to Rock Springs in 1885 where she has lived continuously since and where she has raised a large family. She was a good mother, a kind and helpful neighbor and her death will be a great loss to her family and wide circle of friends. Deceased is survived by her husband Richard Ward, three sons James, Lou and Sam, and two daughters Mrs. James E. Hill of Phoenix, Arizona and Mrs. James Davis of Green River. Funeral services will be held on Sunday afternoon at 2:20 at the L. D. S. Meeting House. June 4, 1915
WATERS, Russel Dean Bo 66, of 1324 Liberty Drive, Rock Springs, died Sunday, July 23, 2006, at the Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie. He was a longtime resident of Rock Springs and former Superior resident. Although Waters had been in ill health for several years, he died following a sudden illness .He was born Sept. 14, 1939, in Rock Springs, the son of Cecil and Carmen Waters. Waters attended school in Superior and Rock Springs and was a 1957 graduate of Rock Springs High School. He married the former Lavanetta Neta Forbes on Sept. 20, 1960, in San Francisco, Calif. Waters was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was employed by Adams Big A Auto Supply from 1964 until 1980. Waters became the owner/operator of Adams Big A Auto Supply in April 1980 and retired in 1988. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, Rock Springs Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Masons, Korein Shrine Club, Order of Eastern Star and Sweetwater County Search and Rescue. His interests included hunting, fishing and playing with his grandchildren and his dogs. Survivors include his wife, Lavanetta Neta Waters of Rock Springs; four sons, Timothy Waters and wife Julie, Jackson Waters and companion Brad Russell and Dale Waters, all of Rock Springs, and Terry Waters and wife Stacy of Green River; one sister, Sharon Yovich and brother-in-law Joe of Laramie; one brother-in-law, Mike Willmore of Rock Springs; four grandchildren, Tim Waters of Enid, Okla., Chelsea Waters of Rock Springs and Austin and Tyler Waters of Green River; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Carmen; and one sister, Pam Willmore. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2006, at the First Congregational Church, 1275 Adams Ave., Rock Springs. Military graveside services and interment will be conducted by the American Legion Archie Hay Post No. 24 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. WEST Colleen June 64, of Green River, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City after a battle with cancer. She was born March 10, 1941, in Rock Springs, the daughter of Hayden Wells Church and Dorothy Twitchell Church Holbrook. She was raised by her mother and grandmother, Jennie Twitchell, and later her stepfather, Henry Holbrook. She graduated from the old Lincoln High School in Green River with the class of 1959. She married Orson Allen West on July 23, 1958, in the LDS Logan Temple. Mrs. West was a full-time homemaker and mother. In 1973, she went to work part-time and later full-time at Wyoming Land Title Company. She was a title clerk and abstracter for 19 years until her retirement on May 29, 1992. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held the positions of junior Sunday School coordinator, ward and stake primary president, primary teacher, primary secretary, young women teacher, ward and stake relief society president, compassionate service leader and visiting teacher. She served a three-year Bishops Storehouse work mission with her husband in Green River. Her interests included her family, boating, camping, gardening, working in the yard, reading, working on vehicles, cooking, collecting dolls, keeping a clean and organized home, family photos and videos, her special dog Ginger, watching Green River High School football, being a mentor, and listening to music. Survivors include her husband, Allen West of Green River; stepfather, Henry Holbrook of Green River; one daughter, Kelly June Hughes and husband Bryan of Green River; three grandchildren, Jamie Cudney and husband Bobby, Stephanie Hughes, and Allen Michael Hughes, all of Green River; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Wayne Cudney, Allysa June Cudney and Colter Jacob Cudney, all of Green River; one aunt, Joy Twitchell of LaPoint, Utah; brothers and sisters-in-law, Louise West of Golden, Colo., Jay and Karen Dykes of Kemmerer and David and Lynda West of Tremonton, Utah; eight nieces and nephews; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother and biological father. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005, at the Green River LDS Stake Center, 120 Shoshone Ave., where friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services. Bishop Kevin Robertson will officiate. Interment will take place at Riverview Cemetery
WILMORE, Pamela Waters 59, of 1411 10th St., Rock Springs, died at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at her home. A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Mrs. Willmore had been in ill health for the past year. She was born on Aug. 2, 1944, in Rock Springs, the daughter of Cecil Bruce and Carmen Maude Auberger Waters. Mrs. Willmore attended schools in Rock Springs and was a graduate of Rock Springs High School with the class of 1962. She married Michael J. Willmore in Rock Springs in July 24, 1964. Mrs. Willmore was the attendance secretary at White Mountain Junior High School for 17 years until her retirement in June of 2003. Her interests included spending time with friends, and the teaching staff and students of White Mountain Junior High School, present and past. Other interests included fishing, camping and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the First Congregational Church. Survivors include her husband, Mike Willmore of Rock Springs; one son, Michael John Willmore of Rock Springs; one daughter, Shawna Lynn Willmore and companion Tim Torpey of Rock Springs; one brother, Russel Waters and wife Neta of Rock Springs; one sister, Sharon Yovich and husband Joe of Laramie; one sister-in-law, Kay Muir and husband Gary of Bountiful, Utah; four grandchildren, Josh Torpey of Yakima, Wash., Danielle Torpey and Amanda and Sean Willmore, all of Rock Springs; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at the First Congregational Church, 1275 Adams Ave., Rock Springs. The Rev. Sue Pierce will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Paul J. Wataha Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs, on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and again Wednesday morning at the church until time of services. WOOD, Patsy 72, of 225 Andrews St., Green River, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at her home. A lifelong resident of Green River, Mrs. Wood had been in ill health for the past several years. She was born March 11, 1935, in Green River, the daughter of Glen David and Mabel Katzmeyers Warby. She attended school in Green River. She married James Albert Wood on Aug. 24, 1966, in Evanston. Their marriage was sealed on June 7, 2001, in the Bountiful LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2007. Her interests included spending time with her family, crocheting, knitting, sewing, camping, gardening and canning. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mrs. Wood was the past state president and past president of F.O. Eagles No. 2350 Auxiliary. She also served in many different callings for the LDS Church. Survivors include two sons, James Wood and wife Vivian of Farmington, Mo., and Glen Wood and wife Cherie of Green River; two daughters, Shanna Mecham and husband Keith of Park River, N.D., and Shelly Moen and husband Marlin of Green River; two brothers, Keith Warby and wife Evelynn of Ogden, Utah, and Jerry Warby and wife Margaret of Green River; two sisters, Darlene Shepard of Green River and Glenda Borzea and husband John of Rock Springs; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister in infancy; and one brother-in-law, Cecil Shepard. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at the LDS Chapel, 120 Shoshone, Green River. Bishop Daryl Parker will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007 at the church one hour prior to services.
ZAMBONI, Asunta Corazza age 88, died in Salt Lake City, Utah, of natural causes due to age, on December 22, 1996. She was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming on April 30, 1908, to Pietro and Maria Covi Corazza. She married Fausto Zamboni in Rock Springs, Wyoming on June 12, 1926, he died on April 24, 1944. She is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Florence (James) Seale, Salt Lake City, Utah, whom she made her home with; Violet Mae (Richard) Borzaga, Lancaster, California; sister, Gisella Zamboni, Paramount, California; three grandchildren and their spouses; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters. She was a former member of Our Ladys of Sorrows Catholic Church in Rock Springs, Wyoming. She has been living in Salt Lake City for the past 20 years. Mass of the Christian Burial, Thursday, December 26, 1996 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 1375 East Spring Lane (5150 South), Salt Lake City, Utah, where friends may call 6-7 p.m. prior to the services at 7 p.m. Interment, will be at 11 a.m. Friday December 27, 1996 in the family plot in St. Joseph's section of Rock Springs, Wyoming Cemetery, under the direction of Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, Salt Lake City, Utah.
ZIMMERMAN, Pearl Elvira GREEN RIVER -- Following cremation, memorial services for Pearl Elvira Zimmerman, 104, will be conducted on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel in Green River. She died Dec. 7, 2006, at Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River. She had lived all of her long life in Sweetwater County, with most of her time in Green River. She was born in Granger on Aug. 4, 1902, the oldest of six children. She attended schools in McKinnon, Green River and Rock Springs. She was among the first students to attend school at what is now the Masonic Temple on Flaming Gorge Way in Green River. All of her education was taught in one-room school houses. She married Joe Widic on Nov. 27, 1918, they later divorced. She married Jack Barto Zimmerman on Oct. 24, 1941. She was an avid homemaker. One of her favorite pastimes was telling the stories of life in the early days of Sweetwater County, living in Granger, homesteading the Mackay ranch on the Henry Fork, traveling to Rock Springs by horse and wagon, making friends with the Indians who crossed the river near their home, building the family cabin in the Uinta's, hiking up to White Mountain to picnic, arrowhead hunting and much more. She was a member of the VFW and a charter member of FOE Ladies Auxiliary, where she received her 60- year membership pin. She was also involved in establishing the first Senior Citizen Center in Green River and Union Pacific Employees Club (The Old Timers). Survivors include one son, Elmer Widic and wife of Riverdale, Utah and one daughter, Dixie Genetti of Green River; nine grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Philbrick and Anna M. Jensen Philbrick; husbands, Joe Widic and Jack Barto Zimmerman; two sisters, Ada Nesbitt-Trunell and Charolette Petre, three brothers, Nels, John and Charles "Bud" Philbrick; half brothers, Richard and Keith "Barney" Scholfield; stepson, Ralph Zimmerman; daughter, Elaine Karician; one grandson, one granddaughter, two great-grandsons and a step-granddaughter.
